I'll be sending some duck eggs your way, probably only a couple dozen, but will send as many as I can. They are on the long side of fresh, my regular buyer has been out of the country for several weeks so they're older than I like to sell them. :) No charge for them - I'm not using them...
I'll miss seeing you too, friend!
Rose is picking up the hot dogs from me. I'll also be giving her a monetary donation to help with the pavilion fee. :) And, will give her duck eggs for Gayle.
I hope y'all understand where I'm coming from personally on this - I would LOVE to see y'all, I...
I've decided not to attend. I've worked very hard on my exhibition lines, and my stock is too valuable to me to take any chances. Very sorry to anyone wishing to purchase birds, but I'm more than happy to make other arrangements (PM me). I'll sure miss visiting with everyone & catching up...
I personally don't find the advice of a nationally renowned poultry researcher to be "silly," but to each his own.
The idea is to NOT spread the virus...we can't know whether our flocks have been exposed or not - and by folks coming from so many areas meeting in one place...the possibility of...
Eggs are fine.
There's nothing anyone can do to MAKE people not bring birds. It's completely up to you. But it's important for all to know the risks, that's all.
Okay, hot dog buns - I still don't know how many folks are going.......I don't think there was a thread started, was there...
Yes, I agree; I will wear shoes/clothing that I have not worn out to my barn so I will not transfer anything to the park if there is anything lurking on my property. When I arrive back home, the clothes will be washed immediately & shoes rinsed in disinfectant. :)
I'm leaning toward coming, but not bringing any chickens. I'm happy to arrange for farm pick-up for the folks wanting birds from me...but I am now allowing anyone back to my barns. I'm just too nervous about this thing. Hope y'all understand.
Number of hot dog buns...hmm.....has anyone kept...
You can't fight a virus using logic & common sense, only, unfortunately. And, even if it hasn't been detected in Michigan, "prevention" seems to be the word used most often when discussing this virus.
On Friday, the Ohio State Fair banned birds being shown from affected states. Here is an...
I like this idea. I'm learning more and more about it. I don't think it's media driven whatsoever. Even the APA is cancelling shows. Some states have closed off shipping any birds (and even hatching eggs) in or out. 4-H has cancelled exhibitions, even state fairs are talking about no...
Folks, I sent a note to Mick Fulton, and his reply is below. I have a huge amount of faith in him & MSU's feedback, and it's my opinion that we reschedule Chickenstock for an August date - what do you all think?
Hello Wynette:
Many events are being cancelled due to the recent outbreaks of...
Folks, I've reached out to Michigan State's Poultry Sciences Department to get feedback on whether we should discuss cancelling Chickenstock due to the bird flu scare. I'll post the reply when it arrives.
Checking PMs in a few...sorry to those who sent notes that I haven't replied to yet...
I'd think one of those very large bags or two medium sized ones of charcoal would work; of course, more is better, rather have you take some back home than not have enough. Thanks much!! Is there a separate thread for potluck items? Still looking for someone to bring hot dog buns &...
Gail, I love the ones I've gotten from you in the past - here's one, though this pic is off my camera & sure doesn't do it justice:
I'll bring you some duck eggs. :)
hello, hello, hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll be attending with Mr. Wynette, who will again be manning the grill this year. I'll bring hot dogs and buns, if someone would provide the following, I would be right thankful:
Charcoal
Lighter fluid
ketchup, mustard
buns
I'm still working on...
