LOL, I started the three new out door brooders today! Told my brother I don't need to anchor them because I'm taking them down after all the babies are gone this year. He told me no you wont stop hatching and having them just anchor later but do it. LOL.
I like this! Working getting mine set up with three brooders in the garage! I'll have to stop hatching stuff after this last batch due early June tho. Its gotten so hot I don't think I can brood in the garage for more than two weeks now.
The colors not bad. For me it's the mottleing I wouldn't want. :lau
That soot gray look is kinda pretty, I just dislike mottleing. Not sure why because I like the spangling on the Spitzhaubens.
Or they don't have enough eggs to fill or send extra and they send a few of some other color in the same breed.
I purchased some blue columbian brahma eggs and the lady didn't have enough to send extra so she sent some dark brahma eggs along with the Blue columbian ones.
A long time ago I had a dog catch one and play toss with it by flinging it in the air by it's wing and catching it again. He was only able to catch it because it was a young adult that got too damp in the misty fog we had that morning and couldn't take off. The feet are much worse than the beak...
Then they would work. Thats what I did this fall / winter. We have no heater but space heaters and I brooded the Halloween hatch and Thanksgiving Hatch in the house with the plates. No problems at all.
House stayed in the 65 to 68 range when we where in the 30s and 40s.
