Speaking of broodies...

The bantams are so small, I just don't see it being worth the time and energy to clean them.

I'm looking to add the next generation of pullets, to keep the flock going, and eggs coming. The current hens are keeping my lone cockerel in check, reminding him of his place, though he's only 8 weeks old. I might keep a second cockerel from the latest hatch, as long as they can get along...

Only one cockerel left, Zacchaeus. He tried to crow this morning.

Four 8 week old cockerels are headed for the auction in the morning. I'm going to miss the little delinquents. I'm sure the hens will not! :lol: All are going except this little guy, recently named Zacchaeus, aka Zack. Love the dad pictures, @Shadrach !

Getting big!

They are SO pretty, love the butterscotch coloring.

You may recall Little Chick, one of two chicks in a staggered hatch back in April? He was the one pecked and left for dead on day two, again on day three. I gave him B Complex and E from a syringe a couple times. He would get lost, Martha had to go back and find him. He cried when he got left...

Bantams don't have much meat. :eek: There's too much drama in the coop, so the juvies are heading to the auction next Saturday. I'm considering keeping one. If I didn't want to eventually breed I might keep this boy, he's got more of the Dominique sweetness than the others, the purebred Sussex.

What about a series of smaller articles?
