Aww, that is sad. Breezy had something going on with his heart or lungs and that's what must have weakened him to be taken out by heatstroke. But Tull too, that's so sad. You had suspicion of Henry having heart problems, could she have inherited them? I suppose it doesn't matter now... A flower...

So sad about Fret. She and Carbon won me over to cream legbars. My daughter has one now named Dream, but I have accidentally called her Fret when tired ahaha.

Here's some cute pictures from this week. Group selfie! I love the timing of Gentle's head shake. And the cochin americana chicks are all too precious

Breezy had either a heart attack or heat stroke and died as I went out to check on him.

Brought out some Hydro Hen for all the chickens, mixed with cold water. We call it "chicken koolaid" Breezy felt good enough to trot off when I walked over to get his picture, and he wasn't panting or wobbling like he was around noon. Hopefully he's on the mend.

Looked better this morning. Not 100% but he's crowing and breeding the hens.

It's tradition to have a "butterbird" here for buffs!

I have a tray I can set out, hopefully they won't be offended by a turkey roasting tray...

I live in a place with cold long winters so I got mostly heavy bodied birds, not thinking about how hot our summers have been getting recently. Lots of them are panting and laying down, but Breezy is the only one who looks to be suffering badly.

My poor Bresse rooster is struggling with these 84F+ temperatures. He always has dark tips to his comb in the morning, but these nearly black tips are new. When I walked out there After I grabbed him and checked his crop, vent, etc. Gave him cool watef, not cold because I was worried about...

Got a nice picture of my bresse cockerel, Breezy. He's massive and behaves very well.

We have two new egg layers! I love how tiny and cute pullet eggs are. Tan and BLUE! In with our green and dark brown eggs 🩵💚🤎 And Big man Breezy keeps stealing the decoy eggs to put in the nests he builds for the girls, he's a great guy.

I found the problem! Because I'm feeding "flock maker" with no calcium, and Blue started laying early, her eggs are now all soft. Hopefully she eats the eggshell and oyster shell I have placed out and her eggs firm up. I may switch the lot to full plume with calcium in it.

I have a new layer who had a couple soft shells and now...either she isn't laying after a week of eggs or someone has discovered her eggs are tasty. I'll be keeping an eye out for sure! I'm willing to mark it up as new egg layer problems though. The second new layer today's egg was untouched...

Wool is common where I live, mostly spun into yarns for knitting and crochet. You can find clothing that contains wool as well. I personally like merino, highland, and alpaca wools for my own makes. I want to make a wool blanket one day!

We have a new layer, an egg yesterday and another this morning. I believe it is Blue Raptor, since the lighter egg was under her preferred place on the roost. Also, Marble was making sure she and a few other girls saw the eggshells I put out. He's such a kind rooster. He even politely walked...

Got my honey berries in the ground and covered with a bird net. Shared the ripe berries with the chickens. The flavor is like a grape-blueberry. Very tasty! Offered to Marble but he said no thanks. This cute lil lady got it though! Kiddo inspecting my netting job (it's horrible) I butchered...
