    BYC members in Massachusetts?

This is not definite but I am possibly looking to rehome a young cockerel in a few weeks. Currently 6 week old silkie x cinnamon queen mixes. I’m on Martha’s Vineyard but people in Falmouth is fine too. Not sure if there are any members from this area. It would probably be one of these guys:

Anyone do stuff with their geese flight feathers?

It’s fun to make quills with big feathers like that! That’s how lots of artists drew back in the day. Lol. I made this drawing of my boots in art class with a chicken feather quill and homemade oak gall ink.

    Can chickens eat ferns?

So I’m making a vat of experimental dye with ferns, and I will be straining out the actual ferns from the water before adding fabric that has been mordanted. So these are basically just boiled/simmered fern leaves. My question is can I give these to the chickens after I remove them from the dye...

Broken beak on 5 week old chick

UPDATE I brought her outside to the grass and she was pecking and eating it with a little difficulty but no pain. So I was confused as to why she was not eating the wet mash in her cage, and when I put her back I gave her a thing of dry food too. Now she is happily and hungrily gobbling it...
