Makes sense. I don't like the extra work of oversized crest and just don't like vaulted skulls. At this point I'm only trying not to keep any vaulted, smaller crests are for a later date.
One of my biggest crest is a non bearded, i think she may be vaulted. I believe the other biggest is...
I believe I've narrowed it down to one pen (one trio). I hate to have to stop breeding my only splash :hmm and my two splash chicks are probably his meaning I can't keep them either. One of my other rooster came from the same place as the splash so I'm worried he might carry it too...
What are people's thoughts on breeding out single combs in silkies? I'm really disappointed that I've had some pop up as I was really happy with my adults and their colours and will be sad to have to remove any from my breeding.
Can i get some colour guesses on these guys cause my silkies keep confusing me 😅 Here I am waiting for some blue chicks and I still haven't gotten a single one!
Would anyone know how/if you can tell if a Silver partridge hen is also blue? I have a couple of what look like splash chicks but my splash roo is only in with a Black hen and a Silver hen.
I suppose there's the chance they're actually paint as I did have a white rooster in there too, but all...
While I'm posting pictures for colour ID... can anyone help me understand the colour of my NN cockerel is? I thought he must be Silver but what else is going on here? Is the red just leakage? Trying to understand so I can plan out my breeding better.
Thank you! I thought that might be the case... I can't really keep anymore boys but the blue will probably stick around longer cause I am trying to get Blue Partridges so I might have to keep him around at least temporarily.
@Hinotori I know you're very knowledgeable about the Partridges. Would you say these showgirls, one is blue Partridge and the other normal? I know the pictures arent the best
I have so many babies now! I dont even know the number yet cause I haven't pulled the rest from the incubators...
Silkie (and showgirl) chicks hatching like crazy in my incubators right now! A wide variety of mixed colours, I cant wait to pull them and get a proper look!
Thank you! That was my suspicion, but when I asked the breeder what colour she was blue partridge was not the answer I received. I got her anyway on the chance she was as I've search quite a bit for some. I really love the colour now I've seen her in person!
