Was wondering when I could expect my Easter egger’s to start laying? This is the first time I have had EE, they just turned 21 weeks old yesterday. Thank you for any information that you can supply.
Sincerely,

Well the Boys and Girls are finally 16 weeks old. So this morning I took the board off the front of their nesting boxes so they could examine them and get used to the wooden eggs that are in the boxes. So hopefully will will start getting eggs in a few weeks.

Went out in the woods and picked up one of my shooting houses to use as a storage building. I am going to use it to store chicken feed and other items for the chickens. I opened the door and found this waiting for me. It has to be one of the biggest I have ever encountered. There must have been...
Does anyone have a complete list of what vegetables that are completely safe for chickens to eat? I can’t for the life of me remember all the vegetables that are safe. And I get tired of looking up every single vegetable. Thank you for your help and time.

Was curious on how many times a week you give your chickens pepper flakes? I was reading a few articles from the Missouri agricultural college about some of the benefits of pepper flakes in their diet. But it did not mention the frequency on giving them the pepper flakes. So I figured I would...
I was wondering if the coloring of the down on a chick will be any indication of the color of the feathers? Because some of the White Rocks I have yellow and black and some are all yellow .

Was wondering if anyone gives their chick’s treats? I bought some freeze dried mealworms and was going to boil up a couple of eggs for them. At what age do you all start giving treats to your chicks?

The wife and I drove to Cackle Hatchery this morning to pick up our chicks. We ordered 9 females and 1 male White Rocks. We get there and they also had Easter Eggers so I got 3 of them as well. But to my surprise they gave us 1 extra of each breed. Cackle hatchery is TOP NOTCH in my book...
Was curious about how often do you all change the pads in your brooder’s? This will be the first time I use these in my brooder. I will use the pads with a small layer of pine shavings on top of the pad. The brooder is 3 foot deep and 4 foot wide, and 3 foot tall. I will have 10 chicks 9 females...
Was wondering if anyone put grass clippings in their brooder for the chicks to scratch through and to eat? And if you do what age did you start this? Thank you.

I know this has been discussed extensively in the past, but I can’t seem to find the threads. I thought about just leaving the floor of the brooder uncovered with out any type of covering the floor is plywood and the brooder is attached to the coop off the ground. Aka: pine shavings, news paper...
I built a new coop it is off the ground for extra space underneath for the run. I am going to add a 4 ft x3 ft x 3 ft brooder to it I was wondering if the brooder needs to have ventilation on the top the same as the main coop?

Just curious why such a big deal about broody hens? I keep reading post after post on how do I stop my hen from being broody. Chickens are going too get broody so just let them if you don’t want to hatch eggs just take the eggs away and eventually they will quit being broody.

I was just curious about how I feed my chickens if it was the wrong way. But to me my method works for me. I have always fed my chickens purina chick starter medicated feed. From day 1 they have been on this feed. And I never had the problems that seem to pop up here on the fourm. So for 6...
I live in central Missouri and our winters are pretty mild and our summers not too bad either. I have had Rhode Island reds before and they did just fine. But I am leaning towards Plymouth Rock barrs this time. I like the brown eggs !!!!! So what do you think of my pick? Or what would you all...
Was wondering if anyone used this mixture for their chick’s? Is really beneficial for the chick’s or is it harmful in the long run. If you have used it I would like to hear the pros and cons of it.
Thank You for your help.
