Crazy how mixed the information is out there!
My birds have scaly leg mites and I suspect at least round worm. From everyone I know on the coast with birds, it’s been a bad year. Maybe the mild, wet winter? I think our high raven population spreads things around as well.
Used piperazine in...
Found this available at a nearby farm supply. As it would be for off label use they cannot legally give any dosing information.
Has anyone used this particular product and if so, do you know the correct dosing?
If all of your bird are behaving pretty well normally, I wouldn't worry about it! There are a huge variety of poop colours, consistency, etc., that are all perfectly normal and healthy. That one wouldn't worry me at all :)
This morning we were woken up at around 4:30 to a mink decimating our flock. We've captured and "removed" around 10 over the last five years but have never had one find its way inside the coop before. As I wasn't sure how it was accessing I did not want to lock then inside today so they are out...
Hello,
Sorry to hear that your girl is doing so poorly. Have you noticed any changes with any of your other birds?
Of course keep her separated regardless and wash up, change jacket, etc.,between handling her and your other birds. If you don't have access to a lab and cannot see any obvious...
Did your vet perform a fecal float? Could be that she just has a weaker immune system and a heavy parasite load. A broad spectrum womer might be a good idea if you haven't wormed them recently.
Perfect!
They are not going to be happy about being locked inside for a day but with the flooding we've been having I don't think they have been using the waterers at all.
Oh well! Thanks again :)
Perfect thank you! The only other thing Im not sure about is whether to do a follow up dose. The packaging and company website do not mention any but I would think that you would want to dose twice to interrupt the life cycle...would that be the case? An if so, how long between doses?
Well now that you got me thinking that way I read the info on dosing all animals and under the swine area it noted that 1 tsp = 4g soooo if I'm calculating this correctly it should be 100tsp to 320L of water and therefore 1 tsp to each 3.2L of water correct?
Hmm don't think I have a scale but hadn't thought of figuring out the tbsp's very smart :)
Perhaps that's how I figured it out last time... This time I'll write it on the jar haha!
Will have to check when I get home. Yes I posted from work...
Wondering if anyone knows the breakdown dosage for Piperazine 52 powder.
This is what the container says:
Chickens and turkeys (water mixing): Remove regular source of water the night before treatment. Supply only medicated water during treatment period. To prevent reinfestation, clean all...
Well I read to Page 204 of the thread and didn't find what I was looking for so I'm just going to ask!
I wound up with a white Chantecler rooster and five hens from a breeder completely by accident and am considering breeding them for primarily meat. I never intended to have this breed but over...
To date we have raised Cornish x and we butcher our cockerels from my Ameraucana flock. The ameraucana boys definitely have more flavour but it is a lot of work and feed for a very skinny chicken carcass.
Mostly I'm wondering if there is any point in intentionally breeding them to raise for...
As long as your certain that she isn't injured I would just give her time, and treats of course :)
Sitting where she can see you with a book or whatever might not be a bad idea either. Eventually she'll remember that your not a threat.
Is the eye that wouldn't open swollen? Is there any discharge from the eye?
How do the remaining birds in your flock seem? Are they laying well, eating and drinking normally? Any sneezing or coughing?
Looking for some information from anyone who has either raised Chenteclers purposefully for meat or has butchered their cockerels.
We have six White Chantecler hens and a rooster in our flock that we sort of came to have accidentally. Never intended to raise the breed but fell totally in love...
