This poor baby, I’m assuming she/he was pecked causing eye irritation. I don’t suspect infections coryza because they have such a cross beak. I removed her and put her with a more gentle flock. I put some eye cream on her and squeezed out the gunk. Hopefully she will make it!
I have a few cross beaks they are my favorites the milli I just discovered having it, but none of these chicks need help except a trim.
This one Mildred, she’s not understanding how to eat and drink. I have spent a lot of time helping her.
She has a lot of obstacles to overcome and I hope I...
Decided to do some beak training since she is so young. It’s worth a shot! I do it before I feed her 3 sets for 30 seconds. Maybe it will help!
Don’t mind my chubby fingers they take up the whole photo lol
Me too I really hope she thrives, she will be my little light, I’ll probably isolate her till 6 months so she doesn’t get bullied, but I’ll probably give her a friend too so she isn’t lonely
Caught her drinking on her own and trying to scoop up food. I blended down the food (like I do for my freshly hatched bantams) maybe this will help her.
About to tube feed right now
Edit pic is a mess I have food everywhere in hopes she eats!!
One thing I will do next time is warm the liquid just like we do with babies, it seemed to have made her cold fast.
So that’s something different for next tjme
I also ordered exact baby bird hand feeding food
So in the meantime bleandednup chick starter till then
