Just popping in to say hello after being MIA for a very long time. I won't ever be able to catch up with all the unread emails, so I'm not going to try. I've been commuting to ah hour-each-way job for some time now and it has cut into my online social life.
Still have waaaay too many...
MCC I remember reading that you can sit a water bucket inside an old tire in a sunny spot and it's supposed to absorb enough heat that the bucket doesn't freeze Haven't tried it myself.
I used to have blue Swedish Ducks. I really like them and would have them again if I had more room and time. Mine came from Metzer Farms hatchery and I will highly recommend them. They specialize in waterfowl.
They also have fast growing giant Pekins for anyone looking for meat ducks.
Dheltzel, those bulk bins sometimes show up used in Lancaster Farming classified ads. I've also seen a feed bin framed out of wood, sheeted with plywood and wrapped with coil stock to mouse proof it.
I have blue egg layers for sale. They're Ameraucanas from my late summer hatches who should start laying around February. Shoot me a pm if you want more info.
Welcome, Tim, I don't have the kind of chickens you're interested in, but I am nearby. Live in northern Dauphin county, work in Mechanicsburg
For those of you looking for ways to enclose your runs, tarps plus.com has white tarps that are 6' wide with a variety of lengths that will let you wrap...
Aurora dream I have hatching eggs, but I think we're not real close. I'm about 1/2 hour north of Harrisburg. My faverolles eggs are fertile. Not sure about the ameraucanas right now since the only roo in with them is older and I haven't seen any 'activity' from him lately.
Sally, don't they use old washing machines to make pluckers? You could probably find a used one pretty cheaply. Probably for less than buying a new motor.
Fisher lady those silver rock roosters are beautiful
I just reconnected with Wingstone on FB so I'll let her know to check in. I've...
Sally Sunshine the faverolles chicks that I got from you last summer turned out really nice. None were blue but i did get blue from their babies. Thanks! Did you daughter get to show her pullet before the ban on shows?
Its been a long time since I've posted. I've had a different job for a little over a year and don't have as much net time as before.
If anyone is looking for guineas, I'd make a good deal on some that I hatched earlier this summer. I've also got some nice salmon Faverolles from this summer...
Carsonville. I think there are folks from E-ville and Millersburg here, but I don't remember anyone from Herndon. Possibly someone from Selinsgrove.
Welcome!

ish I hadn't been so far behind on reading the forum. I just sent 6 or 7 of them to cooler places. Let me look at the remaining boys tonight. There may be one I could get rid of
I thought I remembered you mentioning that you'd like to add color. Mine are mostly gray, but I have a couple black pied. Might not be what you're looking for.
Sometimes they are pretty dark. The darkest egg I had from a cuckoo was a 7 on the Marans club chart, early in the laying season. Usually, they're not quite as dark, but the cuckoos seem to lay more regularly than the dark-laying black coppers I had briefly. I like really dark eggs, but I'm to...
