I have four hens that are one year old and have four babies arriving tomorrow.
How do I eventually introduce these other fours little girls to the others?
How old?
Any ideas?

I have a flock of six and the other night after cleaning the dinner dishes I heard my chickens upset. (They were all free ranging)
I went outside and only saw 5 chickens. I panicked and went walking to the coop to only find a pile of feathers, no carcus, no blood. We think a fox.
Now I don't...
I bought a flat panel heater that turns on at 35 degrees and will shut off automatically at 45. I bought a thermosatically controlled outlet for this. Plus I keep a night light on 24/7 for just enough light in their coop.
It gets way too cold here in Connecticut. Brrrr
I'm a neat freak, so at night I clean the outside run. I do not leave any food out at night. I fluff up their shavings for them inside the coop and always leave food and water for them inside. Morning time I open the door to the outside run so they may enjoy the treats and a nice clean run...
I keep a night light on 24/7 on the inside of my 6x6 coop. They also have a very nice outdoor run Is this enough light to start laying? My hens are all going to be 20 weeks on Monday.
I put two golfs balls in the nests as well to give them a hint.
Maybe I should put a timer on the overhead...
Corn on the cob (cooked) grapes, zucchini or anything with seeds.cherry tomatoes, watermelon, broccoli and cauliflower is always a treat!
Mine didn't touch the banana!
I have two cochins, one leghorn, white rock, barred rock, silver laced wyandotte, no eggies yet. They are 18 weeks this coming monday. Everymorning I'm looking in the nest boxes.
I'll keep you posted.
I just started them today on layer feed.
I just use the food grade DE inside and out side. My outside run is sand and they are so healthy and happy
I do have a question about making my life easier on the clean up. I have been using two over sized kitty litter scoops to clean the hen house. I only have six hens who are now 18 weeks...
How do Cohins lay? I hear not as good as other breeds. I have two in my flock. But I have four other hens as well. I have a Barred Rock, White Rock, Leghorn, Silver Laced Wynandotte.
They are only 15 weeks of age, so it will be a few more weeks before we get eggs.
I only let my free range from approx 6-8pm every night. Athough when winter gets here they are outta luck. I work all day and they do have a beautiful coop and run. I just like them to range for those couple hours. It gives me a relaxed time as wll to watch them and unwind after working all...

We have six Hens that at 15 weeks old and once they do begin laying, how does one clean the egss. Being we have a small flock do I just need a brush with some soap and water?
all new to me and have been enjoying every single second on raising the girls.
