Kalmbach is a major brand of feed. Quality should not be an issue. I would stay away from Purina. I find this to be an inferior feed. The non GMO crumbles & Henhouse reserve blended works for my girls. They love it and I have had no issues for years. I do mix extra probiotics in the feed
I order all of my birds from Meyer Hatchery. They have always come home in great shape. I have never had issues. Plus...You can get what ever mix of breeds you like at the same time. Good Luck and remember...Chicken Math is REAL!
I supplement my chicken feed with Nooch aka Nutritional Yeast and have for some time. I have very healthy chickens and hope to have some ducks someday. Thank you @Isaac 0 for the great info here!
This is Miss Kaylee! She is 3 1/2 years old and is the sweetest girl. She is kind and loves hugs. I picked her out first when I started my flock because of her beauty and her blue eggs. For those of you that are "Browncoats" You may recognize her name :)
Her sisters are Zoe, Inarra and River...
Of course my girls have names! They are members of my homestead family. If you have many of the same breed, you will get to know them and their personalities. That will help you tell them apart. Dogs will be dogs I am afraid. My feed stays out all day in the fenced run so my dogs can't get to it. When the girls are out free ranging they really have no interest in feed for the time they are out there. I would just put it up until and have it accessible to them when they return to the...
I would never feed Purina anything to any animal I care for. I feed Kalmbach feeds to my hens and they love it. It's easy to find and reasonably priced.
