So our flock of 8 chickens as of recently are barely laying any eggs at all! We've made sure that they have proper food, oyster shells, and water, but we almost no eggs. Occasionally we'll get 2 or 3, but thats about once a week. We have 2 Amerucaunas that haven't been laying for a long time...
Okay so I've asked this before of other people, about broodies, and they say just wait it out. However, our Australorp Hen has been broody for around 5 months, at least 4. I getting really worried about her health as she keeps getting skinnier. If we take her out of the nest box, she'll stay...
She's a little over a year old. So i'm pretty sure it's not years. Also, we have one other Amerucauna, and she's still laying. As I said, she seems in good health except here beard feathers won't grow back and her neck feathers are kinda thin.
So, out Australorp chicken went broody today, this is the first broody we've ever had and I was wondering, what do we do about it? We don't have a Roo, so theres no hope for the eggs to actually hatch.
Our Blue wheaten Amerucauna hasn't been laying, it started in the spring when she started molting. First he "beard feathers" fell out and they haven't grown back! also, her neck feathers are a tiny bit sparse. She just hasn't been laying, and we know it's not due to calcium because we give them...
so our ten month old dog got to our chick auburn, and licked her a lot, when I found her she was very scared, had a wound on her head, soaking wet feathers and some bruise spots.
what should I do!
Okay so we have 5 chickens right now, we used to have 6 but our 6th one was a roo and thus made a magical journey to the stewpot. We want to have at least 6 chickens though. We have enough interior room for 6 chickens with 3 nesting boxes. And we have enough exterior run room for much more then...
so our Amerucaunas are having some feather trouble, when I picked up abby our Blue wheaten I noticed her beard was falling out. This is our first year raising chickens, is this just molt? also when i picked up our buff Amerucauna some of her feather started falling off
