Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Yes, this is what I have done too! I really need to get some video and or pictures of what I did. The electric company cut down some big ol’ trees on our property and I commandeered the free logs for the run. I took down all the roosts in the old coop and it’s now an extension to the run. To...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I am partial to land race breeds, all the colors one breed :) I’ll admit that I am quite tempted to go with these guys to bridge the gap. They sound like smaller versions of my SFH’s in personality and they lay blue green eggs 🪺. Oh she is so pretty, I do love her and her feathered toes. I...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Oh goodness, yes RC described the sling she made to me when I went through this with Rue. I opted for a donut with a towel because Rue wouldn’t let me put her in anything she would have hurt herself trying to get out. Your sweet girl looks calm though perhaps the sling would work out better for...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I thought I remembered that’s what she was! She is such a beautiful lady and I do have a complete lack of all white birds in my flock. I will have to move them up on the list for Spring.

Old English Game Birds are absolutely beautiful, they remind me a lot of the Fayoumi. Idk about their “typical” personality though. I trust your experience though and I found internet chicken personality to be more miss than hit lol. I will add them to the list! Petra is a cutie 🥰.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I have heard of these but only in passing, another possibility to consider, thank you! I am so glad to have asked everyone, many more possibilities than I imagined. The silver spangled is really eye catching and their crests are so cute! 🥰

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I will put them on the list! Thank you, I didn’t realize they were such dainty ladies. Piglet is quite the character isn’t she? She definitely seems to be saying Mine Alll Mine! Thank you 😊 My list is growing! They sound like they have a lovely temperament and they are really pretty birds too...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I have 5 Swedish Flower Hens, one of which is a Rooster, 2 Silkies one is Rooster, and 1 Bantam Cochin. Two Roosters and 6 hens is not the best balance, I had more bantams but lost 4 to a dog I believe:( This is why I am looking for a breed to bridge the divide. Thank you for the feedback on...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Okay, so I just can’t bring myself to get any more bantams. So many losses. So I have been considering trying to bridge the size gap. Here are the breeds that I am pondering on: Shetlands, small but not quite Bantam small. Hens are 2-3 lbs and they do lay blue/green eggs. Or … double silver...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

CO2 is the gas that releases as it melts. The CO2 is heavier than the air and it displaces the oxygen in the tunnels which puts them to sleep and then kills them. As long as you can find and block off all their entrances and exits it should work well and the good thing is it will get the whole...
