Sorry to hear you had a bad day Chickentikka. Seems to me it can be 2 steps forward & 1 back with new projects like this. Especially kids & pets :) Well i messed up too. Ha ha re the coop lights. I fully understand. When mine were fluffing about trying to get settled i confess to aiming my torch through the window trying to give them some light so they could see where the perch was. Hi Chickentikka. I imagine you are pretty excited about getting the new coop. Remember back around Easter time waiting for the weekend to pick up my coop & put it together. Had the pad all prepared & kept visualising it in my garden. Then picked up my hens. A definite Yay time. Havnt looked...- Bethan

A quick one re flies. I dont know if you have come across this tip. I hang those car freshener christmas trees in & around the coop. Vanilla, apparently flies are repelled by vanilla. I find the smell a bit strong on first day but it really seems to work. :)- Bethan

Ive read that change like a new coop for them all can be helpful. Your introduction time sounds pretty much like what ive been doing. Mine are relaxing more around one another in the garden. The newbies would have loved that. Mine kept to their own in the garden too. Tonight i put my original 2 (Ruby & Harri) in their loft at sunset & closed the loft door. Waited tiĺl dark & put new ones in (Lily & Rosie). Worked perfectly! Checked a bit later & all asleep on the perch. You might...- Bethan

Hi Chickentikka I have a similar situation & have been researching like you. Also newish to hen keeping. Have 2 pullets & introducing 2 point of lay hens. I halved my small coop with wire, after the chest thumping reduced to "tolerence" ive let them into the little chicken garden together...- Bethan
