    I'm answering your question: Shredding bags would be a waste of an otherwise useful resource. Fireplace or recycle bin would be an even bigger waste.

    That's fine, people can choose whom they would like to trust. Personally, I like to see measured quantities because my chickens and turkeys eat all sorts of stuff that would probably kill them in large enough doses.

    Are magpies predators? I thought they were scavengers. I don't think they would actually hurt an adult chicken. The crows and ravens don't really protect chickens, but they will attack hawks and other raptors in their territory.
