    Heat lamp???

Thanks for all the tips. My brooder is in my house. I'm not ready to put them out its way to cold here, plus my hens outside don't use a heat lamp, I do the deep litter method. My chicks seem to stay under the heat lamp but sometimes they like to cool down so they go to the other side of the...

    Please give me your opinion

I don't understand why you asked for advice. The community has given you their experience and your not listening to any of it. I hope your hens do ok. It's going to be a tough life if you put 5 girls in that coop. Egg production will be low, as well as the health & happiness of your girls will...

I am completely new to owning chickens but am planning for the future.

All my girls lay everyday, no rooster here! As for space they say 4 square feet for each girl in the coop & 10 square ft a bird for outdoor space. When I made my run I used wire cloth. It's strong & hard for rodents to get through. I don't have foxes here but if you do the research you'll...

    Please give me your opinion

Hello I started out with 4 girls in a coop that was about the same size. But I started noticing some loss of feathers. It just wasn't enough room for them. I recently took my small coop (cost me 600) and used all its parts to turn my shed into a coop. I have 8 girls now so I needed extra...

    Got my girls more space!

I was told she's an Amuracana (? Spelling ?) she lays a green egg. Her sisters lay green & blue-green eggs. The 3 that I have were given to me by a neighbor when she had to move due to heath problems.

    Got my girls more space!

Best idea was getting the food off the ground, and making sure it was unmovable. No more tipping over the food!
