I think the 8 week old chicks wouldn’t drink more then a litre a day. The silkies About half a litre and the larger birds drink about 2 litres a day.
Man math is not my friend. I just didn’t want to hurt the chicks. I agree it seems most I see is 1 teaspoon per 1 gallon.
Guess I will just go...
I’m treating the whole flock. I have heard one chicken sneeze about 100 times a day for months. Now others are sneezing. No discharge or eye issues. But I think this has been hanging around awhile and bringing on other illnesses.
I’m just nervous treating, so I always asked advice for size of...
Hello everyone,
I have a sneeze going around the coop and I can’t get Tylan injectables here.
I do have Tylan powder.
Can someone help with the dosage for
-Average size bird
-silkie
-8 week old chicks
Thank you
I called every vet within 2 hours of me and they only do parasite tests.
I asked each to test for bacteria and they say they don’t do it.
We have two chickens so far sick.
But other then weird poop which is how it starts the rest seem fine.
Hi all,
I put up a post earlier this week about our sick flock of chickens and had some help but wanted to start a new discussion about this pic.
A summary- we had one lathargic sick chicken with yellow/ green watery poop. We caught her early and treated her with penicillin and she got better...

I didn’t yet but seeing as though corid doesn’t cause harm I’m am doing that tomorrow for the whole flock.
Afterward I will deworm just incase.
We are feeding yogurt and oragano oil and garlic.
Thank you so much, I just hope they make it.
I’m monitoring the poos and still some have green. I might cull all the sick ones and clean the coop and all feeders and waters with bleach and hope it doesn’t pass along. Breaks my heart.
Yes just on the legs of one bird I could see. No lice, no other mites.
I felt one of the sick chickens crop. It was full and felt a little squishy but I don’t really know what they are supposed to feel like.
So without treatment for the sneeze and crop will they all die?
I’m so sad :(
Thanks for replying, there are some odd sneezing but not to often, some tones I notice them clearing there throat.
I notice when we culled this hun when we turned her upside down a bunch of clear liquid ran out of her mouth.
Also noticed some scaly mites.
I will check the crops tonight.
I...
Update, another chicken super sick. We ended up culling because it was struggling.
She had a puss like substance coming from her mouth and her vent when we pushed on it.
Any advice would be great. Here is a picture.
I’m so upset. We work so hard to be clean and am overly cautious about...
Looks like the others are starting to get it too, green, yellowish poop.
Still acting ok. I have no idea what this is.
If a parasite float tests comes back negative can anyone else tell me what possible illness this could be?
I have called all over the place. It seems that no one within 3-4 hours of us does bacterial testing only parasitic testing.
Any advice on where I could send in Canada?
Who knew it would be this hard!
