But I have a good amount of brown/pinkish layers. I know I can dye their vents. How do I do this? How far in do...

They were in a covered run and found a way to get up and onto the cover. Which is the orange netting in the picture.

    Not again...

We have seen hawks once or twice. These hens are 4-3 years old and have never lost one to a hawk. They are pretty smart about them. The first 2 times this winter happened in the night. Do hawks hunt in the night? But a hawk wouldn’t make since for the night since the 2 times they had been...

We only get hens and we get 1 of different kinds of breads. In the laying group we do have 2 EE but they have completely different colors plus one is 4 and the other will be going on a year. Then our new ones from the summer we got 2 polish but they are different colors from each other too. This...

How to check individual laying amounts

Ya we end up getting new chicks every year with some meat birds. We lose a hen or 2 each year so it keeps up. We just got 7 earlier in the summer and something got in and killed all but 3 of the new ones. 🤦🏻‍♀️

How to check individual laying amounts

Hello, I have some hens going on 4 years of age and another group going in 3 years. I know as they get older their laying slows down and can stop. I have a hand full that I know who’s eggs are who’s (green, blue, white) but the rest are various light to dark brown eggs. What would be the best...

    Updated from Blister post

So Filo is still alive but definitely not hobbling as well. It seems to be her right side. Blister looking things havnt changed. Her vent still looks fine, no bugs anywhere on her or cuts or blood. She has dirty butt feathers but I’m sure it’s because she’s laying and pooping. I felt her down...

    Blisters

Yeah I’ll send my husband out tonight to clean the nesting box out again but their grass is pretty low and inside the run there’s no grass so luckily nothing can really live. Is there anything I can put in their food or their water just in case it’s some kind of spreading illness or anything...
