How did your flock annoy you today?

Thanks. I’m not grieving anymore. 2+ years passed since the last loss. Yes, foxes and weasels are bad. Minks too. But monks not so much. :gig

How did your flock annoy you today?

...many predators in the Netherlands. I free range several hours between 9 am and sunset when I am at home. Not supervising most of the time. Some sh*t happened though. 4 hens disappeared and 1 fox-kill I am sure of in 11 years time. But I barely had health issues all this time. Follow your...

This bird is a real statue we came across in a park of a great retired comic (Herman van Veen) who bought a domain near Soest in the Netherlands and made a theatre and art centre in it. Open for the public for free. https://artandmuseum.com/en/portraits/herman-van-veen

Recently a GPT photographer saw 3 wild haggis and took this photo somewhere in the Scottish highlands.

As a foreigner from the EU mainland I had heard about the famous haggis dish. Never about wild haggis. The jokes made me wonder. Luckily I found a good read before I made myself ridiculous with all kind of questions. 🤣 The Myth and Mystery of Scotland’s Wild Haggis

How did your flock annoy you today?

Mine won’t obey either if they are free ranging just ½ hour. I never let them out if they have less than 1½ hours to free range. I lure them in with food too. Standard lure food is scratch (organic mixed grains with seeds). Sometimes they get leftovers like spaghetti, rice or small pieces of...

How did your flock annoy you today?

The chickens egg laying systems of my middle aged hens go into a winter sleep every autumn. They probably start to lay again in march. To stop a few months is good for their health and longevity. My two 1½ yo bantam Amrocks stopped too this autumn when they started to moult. I expect the...

I’m no expert at all. Just know that there many are different organisations/ providers who developed image and video generators. I think Dall-e from open AI was the first and others followed. As you may have noticed the differences are huge and the prompt is very important to get amazing images.

Great article. Very true and a reason to treat chickens with respect.

    New chicken mama needs advice

Maybe she ate much grasses or herbs when she was outside. It sounds as if she is recovering well if she walks around, eats and drinks. The only reason to keep her inside would be if she is bullied bc of her injury. She probably just needs some time to heal.

What predators are known for digging under coops?

Yes chickens can digest fresh green grass. An untreated lawn is a good source for food and fresh vitamins. Maybe you find this research interesting? https://www.researchgate.net/publication/236974606_The_grass_is_greener_Farmers_experiences_with_pastured_poultry
