I know Jacumba, we used to live out in Campo. Missy at Secret Hills is amazing! They do have the specialty birds but to me I don't mind paying a lil more. My first 3 birds I got from Bullseye Feed in Alpine, just basic hatchery quality birds but I love them too.
I'm in East San Diego County, Alpine. I have been getting my chicks from Secret Hills Ranch here in Alpine. They breed lots of awesome breeds and do shipping. I have 3 on order now.
No rooster here but when one of my ladies starts singing not only does that get the other ladies going but my two wolf dogs also go out and starts howling with the chickens!
All your pictures are just beautiful. I just ordered my first Blue Splash Copper Maran today and expect to pick her up beginning of April. I'm so excited. They are such a pretty breed.
Hi all, so I may have the record for the oldest non laying pullet yet. She was hatched the beginning of June and still no egg. She has looked ready for months, no squatting but I have another layer that doesn't either. I'm in So. Cal so we have had no winter.

Thank you! This is my first CL, first flock altogether, so I am still learning about all my breeds. She is one of my more vocal birds, she is starting to crow in the mornings. When I get home ill snap a picture of her. Thanks again
I have noticed some Cream Legbars that are being posted don't have as big of a comb and waddles that mine does about the same age. Does the size of the comb differ within the same breed? I think I have an abnormal CL.
So that is how they are supposed to act, mine does that too but it seemed like she is going after my feet. This is my first time with Polish and chickens in general. She acts kind of like she isn't all there in the head, but is my only one that just chills when being held. Lately she has been...
I do have loud chickens. Both my CL and her pen buddy, my Olive egger, are both very loud and are finding their voices, both about 18 weeks. 2 of my 3 older chickens, only by 2 months, are extremely loud too. Only my EE is quiet, never a loud bwak. As I type I am hearing my CL crow. She only...
