Hi,
I have roosters I'm trying to identify.
I'm thinking jungle fowl because of their long green/black tails and red colouring. They also have white tuft at the base of their tails, single combs with red ear lobes. Does this sound like jungle fowl or are there other breeds with the same features?
Hi, I have two collared doves which are losing feathers on their head and neck. At first I thought it was just feather loss due to my budgie biting one but I have since separated them and the feathers haven't grown back and now the other one has some feather loss too. I was just wondering what...
Yes she has yellow patches in her throat and now the dry form as well (scabs on face).
I will get some probiotics. Should I pick the scabs off? One is on her eye lid impacting her vision.
Help please.
One of my hens has wet fowl pox. What is the best way to treat it before it gets too bad and blocks her throat up?
Open to all suggestions. I know it can't be treated with antibiotics but is there anyway to keep it under control and boost her immune system to help fight it off
Haha I've been guilty of that too.
My dog broke a glass panel in my door so I get the occasional visitor. I had a battle with a hen trying to keep her out but she was determined to come inside. I kept throwing her outside and she just kept coming right back until I was like.. ok fine you win
I've tried to move my broodies a few times but they kept going back or trying to go back to the spot they picked even if I've moved her eggs to a new spot. I find it best to leave them and when it's close to hatching time barricade her off so no other hens can peak the chicks when they hatch...
I've grown up throwing scraps out to the chooks without worrying about what they should or shouldn't eat and have never had an issue with them getting sick from it but.. I've recently became an owner of geese and first time free ranging resulted in eating leaves off something they shouldn't and...
Thank you for the quick reply.
I had heard tomato leaves were bad for parrots so I did worry about them being harmful to poultry as well. Maybe best I hang them up high so they can't be reached.
As for raw beans and green tomatoes being toxic to humans.. I would never have thought that.
Hi, this maybe a silly question but I'm about to put a veggie garden in and I was wondering if there is any vegetables geese or chickens are not allowed to eat. I will be enclosing the garden/s but on the off chance they get in or a vine creeps out I want to be sure nothing will harm my birds...
Only a person who's never owned chickens would consider chickens as 'just chickens'. They may not be the brightest of all creatures but they're definitely not stupid.
As for the eye peaking.. I learnt that the painful way. No longer are chickens allowed that close to my face again lol
The...
Truthfully.. it really hurt and still does. I've had chooks peck at it every so often but never thought until it happened that they could actually peck it off. After years owning chickens I should know by now never to underestimate them especially when they see food... or what they think is food...
I've just had my second shock of the week....
A hen just help herself to a small mole on my stomach, two peaks and she'd ripped it from my body and ate it. To all those people paying money for mole removals save yourself the cash of an operation and buy a chicken instead.

Sorry to hear about your roo, I've had the same thing happen a few times in the past. Totally agree with it being more sad when the snake doesn't at least benefit from the loss.
Can't help with answers sorry but he is very pretty.
I have a mixed boy who has crinkly/straw feathers too and I'm curious to know why that is as he's the only one out of all my hatches that have it.
