Mine roost outside too. I've locked them in for a month at times and they will still roost in the trees or on a coop roof. You often see them in the early mornings with their backs entirely snow covered.
The paper does have reader comments open.

Try the state veterinarian's office. If they don't do it they will know who does.
Feed store....somebody come in with something on shoes or hands?
I'd be wondering.
I've ordered from Ideal several times and I'm very happy with them.
There is a dominant white and a recessive white. One is technically called silver and I forget which is which.
Depends if that roo is all white. If it's a dominant white gene it could be masking something else. Then there are modifiers.....
Hatch peeps and see.
The classroom at the coop has...
Now that is surely tempting but I need ducks. Too many mosquito breeding spots here and the ducks make a noticeable dent.
I have a pair a peas. The hen is white, cock is pied. This will be the first year they are old enough to breed. I've been watching for the first egg arrival and for the...
Slower to start than chickens. Little more Dependant on guidance than chicken chicks. Your going to have to show them how if they don't get it in a day or two.
If I hatch turkey eggs I usually throw a few chicken eggs in so the chickens hatch the same time. The poults observe the chickens...
The new incubator is here already! Cutlers was amazingly fast!
My husband has a compressor so I had him blow out the thermostat on the old one. It works again! Warmed right up. So now I have 2. Good tip Danny! Chick dust and feathers came out in a cloud.

Thanks Danny.
Sorry I haven't called you. Phone is in and out of service. Some pinhead shot the lines up for miles out here. Spring moisture is taking the lines out inch by inch and FairPoint has no money to fix it right.
Dust is a very big possibility. I burn coal and that fine ash gets...
Maybe mine wasn't a genesis model but it still had the preset thermostat. I do see splices for the heating element and stuff so I think I can resurrect this.
Get a cheap walmart hygrometer. They work just fine. It will last the summer. Then don't touch the last days and into the hatching. I know it's not easy. I've done it myself.
Don't help until that chick hasn't made any headway for a full 24 hours.
