    introducing chicks to older chicks?

Don't worry eventually they will all get along! I think putting them into the coop at night is one reason they never fought. I've read on here never to give raw patatoes to chickens. It has some sort of chemical that's bd for them. You can give cooked patatoes though.

    when to feed table scraps?

I gave mine chick grit and started treats at 3 weeks old. They love the Happy Hens dried mealworms. They also get BOSS ( blac oil sunflower seeds) and lots of finely chopped up greens. They dont like bananas and apples but I've read most chickens do!

    Feeding extra treats necessary?

I think I've created little greens monsters! If my chickens don't have greens daily in the morning they get very loud and upset! It's getting expensive!! They also get dried mealworms at 5pm nightly. They really love them and they're great protein. Since they can't free range I feel they're...

    introducing chicks to older chicks?

I'm very happy to report they all integrated with no problems! Not one fight! They all eat and drink together now. The two older ones are bonded to each other and they've accepted the younger ones even at treat time! The two younger ones stick together most of the time. I think having them in...

When to integrate 2. Week old chicks with 7 week old chicks?

Well they are all successfully integrated!! Walking around together and even sharing treats! The older two are sort of bossy but never fought the little ones! Putting them in the coop at night and setting up two feed/water ares helped the most I think. I'm VERY happy! :)

    SNAKE!!!!

You are probably correct- we have beach rats around here and I haven't seen any in awhile. I live near the ocean. The beach rats are nasty creatures! The chickens are in an enclosed run and it's up off of the ground, to prevent predators. Their food falls onto the ground and likely attracts...

    introducing chicks to older chicks?

Ok so now the younger ones stay in the corner of the nesting box all the time and are afraid to go out in the run. They have food/water in there. But I think the older ones are intimidating them into hiding in the nesting box. Is this normal for day 2? Will it get better? How long should it...

    SNAKE!!!!

I have a black racer in my yard. Scares the crap out of me and the kids! It's always turning up whenever we go outside(every day) and it lives in a rock wall next to the chicken coop. I want to kill it but DH is saying it eats rats and it's a "good" snake. So since I won't kill it, snake stays...

I am confused about medicated starter.

I totally agree we over medicate both children and Annimals in this country. But before these medications they would die. It may only be a handful that die but if it was your kid or annimal that would be unacceptable. I'm feeding my 4 pullets medicated starter til he recommended 18 weeks per...
