I have two mini pigs that live with my ducks. Feeding isn’t an issue when the ducks are out free ranging but I’d like them to stay in the fenced area when I’m not home because of increased predators... so does anyone have a design for a feeder that only ducks can eat out of and not my mini pigs...
I have a very broody duck hen who's eggs I finally got a chance to look at. I would say she's been sitting for around the 2 week mark but I feel like most of her eggs have died. why would this be? They mostly look like the photo I attached, full on one side but nothing on the other. is that...
I think sand is a much better option than straw or wood chips because of how much moisture they hold and allow for viral and bacterial growth. However, has anyone noticed sand creating a better home for mites or lice? we had a big mites issue last year with our chickens so I know they're around...
ive had my ducks for a year. There are 6 of them. This is their current pen set up. They free range all day while I’m home to supervise which is a lot. But they also enjoy being in their little area and are locked there when I’m away ... the issue is the ground of their pen. It is pebbles. Which...
positive, she's a Saxony so they're pretty distinct, and she lays eggs .. She WILL NOT let the drakes mate her though and I think thats a huge part of her issue is she just runs and fights. The other girls will allow them and once they're done they leave them be.
I am trying to introduce three new hens (the same age) to my flock of four (2 drakes and 2 hens) ... it’s been 5 days. I did slow intros of them meeting each other through the fence .. the drakes ended up bashing their heads against it .. anyways long story short. My ducks are mean.. two of the...
She started developing this patch on her beak. Last night when I put her to bed it was very red and looked like blood. It looks a little darker today but not good still. The only thing I can think is I am allowing them to go and play in the melting snow/mud puddles throughout the day. Thanks
That’s the other thing ... will it attack me ? I pick up some of the ducks bc they’re friendly enough. I’m not planning on interacting with it much but I’d rather not get attacked. I’d probably get a female ..... if you guys were me, would you get one or just stick with my flock and hope I keep...
I do feel bad getting just one but I was it for the purpose of alarm. I don’t expect it to chase anything off. Just make some noise if something is around while I let them free range when I’m home
