Thanks for the reply ChickenCanoe! I figured it would be hard to find since I never see deep chocolate colored eggs anywhere but google.. starting to think it's photoshopped lol.
What would you charge for 6 hatching eggs?
Hi y'all I'm in search of some deep chocolate colored egg layers. I'd like to. It 6 eggs too hatch, I have 2 Black copper marans already but they just aren't laying as dark as I'd hoped (they just started laying a couple weeks ago). I understand they lighten with age and each egg can vary in...
Have you checked her for mites? A breeder near me had told me "When you're checking for mites, you have to look as if you WANT to find them." In other words, search very carefully and close for small red bugs/mties. She said to check around the gland above their tail, the vent area, or around...
Does anyone have a picture of a welsummer X legbar hen or rooster?
I just got a couple chicks from a lady that are this cross, i'd love to see what they will look like as adults. She did show me a picture but i'd also like to see yours if you have it!
Interesting, Amish Paste sounds tasty..

I found a small description of all 3 tomatoes, they both sound better than Roma. I'll have to try them out next season, we already planted for the spring!
Personally, this is my favorite breed.
I have a mixed flock and have to say, the Americauna takes the cake for me. I don't like a bird that is very dependent on me, I used to love my barred rocks for that reason but then it became annoying. I like an independent bird. The different colored...
Just hatched 8/9 Isbar chicks, happy and healthy. I still do not have a hydrometer lol.
This was my first time hatching someone elses eggs so that 9th egg that didn't hatch is a bit of a mystery.
After I posted on here I found a forum on an Americauna breeder site, it explained that it all starts with them having food caught in their beard after drinking water, another chicken will "clean their face" and pull out the feathers. I'm selling my beard-eater, she's the only one with a beard...
I'd like to know if anyones beards grew back too. My rooster has started losing his feathers and a couple of my girls are now beardless completely (looks weird... i don't like it!).
No lice, no change in eating, free ranging hens and rooster, plenty to eat! Whats going on?? I've never seen...
Thanks for the info! I really like my americaunas I don't think I can part with them for autosexing. I have a way of taking care of the roosters so I'll just keep them longer and maybe sell them for more.
Great that's what I needed to know. Yes, worst case scenario I can always give them to my mother in law. They cull roosters at their place. maybe I'll just start hatching my Americauna eggs only. Americaunas are not an autosexing breed either right?
Rooster is a blue wheaten Americauna
Hens are black australorp, black sex link, buff Orpington, Americauna, EE, and salmon favorolle
So is anyone able to tell what sex they have? This seems to be my biggest set back in sales.
See the little one there with the dot? That's probably the best pic I have, it's dark right now so I'm unable to take a new one but there's probably 3 with distinguished spots.
Hey everyone!
I have to ask a question that I think was already asked (sorry..) I've just hatched 9 adorable little fuzzy butt EE's and noticed a couple of them have a defined dot on their heads. Is this autosexing? Are these roosters? I'm trying to sell them and now I'm being asked.. I feel...
I never calibrated my incubator or used a hydrometer, just had 9/9 chicks hatch with my second go around. Once I pull these guys out, ill sit down and calibrate the incubator.. not sure if just luck or what but i'm glad theyre all doing well!
