You hatched the bird yourself huh? Well in that case you're bird could be either gender because it's probably a crossbreed. I never trust backyard breeders, especially if I'm hatching eggs, because most the time they have little idea what they are talking talking about.
Looking closer at the...
Barred breeds, like many other breeds, have Male and female specific feathering. In the barred breeds females will have one barring gene while the males will have two (purebreds). The single barring gene on the female makes the female appear to be darker, with thin white bars while her Male...
Idk why you're asking people to vote when you are sitting there and telling people how amazing RIR are. What's the point if obviously your biased on breeds?
In my experience RIR I've had laid horribly misshapen eggs and had horrible temperaments with other breeds and hybrids. I wouldn't keep...
Looking at your images, the head of the suspected chimera specifically, I do believe they are blues. Shes got light blue peeking through. I'm uploading a picture of my blue Male, if you look at his tail feathers you can see where he is starting to get his blue. I got my chicks September 6th.
Amazing. Keep us updated! I've seen this in a red sexlink before myself. It was a friends bird. Defiantly an interesting genetic flaw.
And a fact on Ideal and blue mille fluers. The chicks look almost identical to Gooden neck chicke but as they age, if they are blues, the white will slowly...
Imma go with black sex link too. They can have a little red leakage or alot of black leakage. Some even have no leakage, I've had a few hens in the past be completely black.
Oh gosh the way you described your brahma was amazing! I was laughing so hard. But I do believe she'll be just fine.
Love the Easter egger as well! But I'm afraid that's not a black cochin. That's a barred cochin, prettier birds in my opinion:)
Sorry to hear about your bird, I've dealt with...
Yep shes a beautiful mix!
I see no feathering on her middle toe and the absence of vulture hocks (standard for the Duccle breed).
Lovely bird regardless!
Edit: I notice the hocks now, just very small hocks! Love her colors, I'm working towards blue columbian duccles this year and I'm hoping I...
I'm sorry but autosexing breeds especially hatchery stock autosexing birds can actually loose the ability to be autosexed. Poor breeding can do this as I'm sure most people know.
The only breed I will ever believe for certain is "sexed" will be sex links. I'm very skeptical of hatcheries
2. Maybe a duccle
3. Buff bramha
4. Mottled or frizzle Cochin
5. Buff brahma
Honestly I dont really think any are duccles mostly because I've raised so many. But I suppose anything is possible with hatchery stock.
Check the leg color on the chocks. Duccles will have light colored toes but will...
Oh gosh yes! I had two white leghorn and everyone told me. "Those are roosters." And would literally argue with me! So eventually I gave up and said, "well those roosters are staying because they each lay me an egg a day!"
Good luck poster! Post update pics in a week or two :)
Most breeds cannot be feather sexed. So unless she is breeding specific birds for feather sexing then its unreliable. It's also only reliable the first day or two after hatch.
These are most likely barn yard mixes and she read an article about feather sexing and thought it would apply to any...
Yeah I agree it's a welsummer, maybe a light brown leghorn. You'll be able to distinguish later on when ge combs and earlobes start being more pronounced.
Legorns = massive combs and white earlobes
Welsummer = smaller comb and red earlobs.
But I think you probably got what you paid for.
I dknt...
Thats in fact a barred rock. However it is a cockerel. Sorry for the news!
I never buy from TSC. Too many oops to keep track of. I only buy from atwoods or online at ideal now.
