I won Grand Champion in the incage show with one of my serama hens :)
I'm honestly surprised she got that far since she is far from the standard.. not even a recognized color but.. I'll take what i can get:confused::lol:
Here's my favorite from this year's hatch♡ 4 months old.
She almost looks kind of wheaten with spangles? Father is exchequer with 'straw' leakage and mother is mottled.
(Shes scared so not standing as upright as usual)
When entering a bird into an in cage show and their color is not an actual variety(in any breed) would you still write "AOV" on their card?..or something else?
It is a fair, but they have a liscenced judge there.
For now I'll just wait and see how her comb looks, shes still young so it might not be as bad later.
:))
This sounds awful and like something bad, but gamefowl are dubbed for show, do you think there would be a way to remove her sprig or should she just not be shown?..
Hm.. pinched taild might be my excuse to go and get a pair from Tim Hopkins:lol:
And no, mine are not white. They came from...
Some of yall know I'm breeding seramas for show...
I have a 17 week (4months) old serama pullet. Her type seems pretty good so far, but something I've noticed is that she has a side sprig on her comb. I'm not sure about the point system for shows so if anyone knows how many points she might get...
If the chicks' parents are both blue laced there's a chance that black laced chicks could hatch. If one parent of splash and the other was blue then they're a darker variant of blue laced
Ive never done showmanship but..
Seramas are recognized by the ABA so she should be good there. Seramas are usually pretty docile, as long as handled daily.
Since I only breed for eggs it doesnt matter much. I do like them to have feathered legs though. If I were to show mine I would definitely prefer the feathered legs since that is what the standard calls for
On my light colored birds I used Tide bleach.
I fill the cap up to the first mark then mix it into a tub of water (warm of course). If the stain doesnt come out with just scrubbing with my hands, I put some of the bleach on a toothbrush and scrub fairly hard, nothard enough to hurt the bird but...
