No problem at all. You can raise them together but the Ducks will make a mess with their water. Do some reading on raising them together would be my suggestion. They can eat the same feed too. Ducks are fairly disease free which is solid and rarely suffer from any of the same problems as chickens.
Thanks foxychicken! I did insert a finger gently to put some apricot oil around her vent and a bit inside. I would say over the last three days she hasn't been herself. She hates people lol (she was raised by my since deceased bantam hen) and hasn't had much handling and she has been letting me...
She's obviously trying to work it out as her cloaca is pulsing like mad. She got out of the basin and promptly took a HUGE diarrhea poo. What do I do now? I sprayed her cloaca with oil and felt around for an egg but I didn't feel a hard egg. I can feel on the outside what feels like a soft...
Yes, I think that's what we will do. My friends think I'm ridiculous for taking my chicken to the vet but my hubby insists its worth it than trying to guess what's going on. Thanks!
So I'm pretty sure my 9mo old autralorp has sour crop. It's squishy and looks just like all of the pictures ice seen on it. I put her alone in a carrier yesterday morning with no food and gave her water with acv only. It has not gone down at all. I've also been massaging her crop several times a...
Got what I thought was an Orpington pullet, but I think she may be something else. My other Orpington baby has yellow wings and this one has pure white feathers coming in. what do you think she could be? She came in a fellow BYC'ers backyard special and I put her under my broody momma. I love...
Becau
because she only has one chick to protect she may be ok in with the others. Can they sleep in a nest box till the baby can fly? My momma stayed in the nest box for a couple days. I put a cat carrier in my coop for them to sleep after the first few days. How big if a tub? Momma will want...
Omg!! I'm so sorry. I too adore my boys and would be heartbroken. When my hen had an infected ear I used raw honey, oregano oil, and garlic and made a poultice. I would just rub it on. It should keep infection away and help it heal quickly. I just look at the pics now cause no one ever comments...
I tried to go the natural route. My broody momma Goldie hatched three of three beautiful babies. She decided to take them out while I was gone one day and lost 2 of them. I was soooo freakin sad, and she was looking for them... It was my first hatch ever. I felt like such a bad chicken keeper...
I have actually done that. I went to a feed store here in derry and there were like 100 day olds in a small livestock feeder with No beaks. Really ****** me off and I complained. We have since boycotted several local stores due to this. My Mother in law actually said we needed to debeak as well...
12 week olds were 12$. I was in today and I didn't see any layers there. The 12 week olds looked nice. Usually, I see the older birds there and they look so sad and they have lopped off their beaks which makes me so mad.
