It's all good. It didn't matter what they had, I was impulse buying them anyway. I'll let you guys tell me what they are a few months from now ;) So raise heat plate slowly, chick starter till 12 weeks, grower till 16 or 18 weeks, then later feed? Impulse quarantine boredom buy today.

So I currently have a flock of 8 hens 2 years old. Dominique's, Rhode island red, and wyandottes. Then out of boredom I purchased 6 straight run chicks today with no plan. How do I do this again? Lol. I probably can only keep up to 4 of the 6. I am assuming I will be getting some males and...

1yr old Dominique found dead in coop today!

I would even say the buckeyes and the golden laced wyandottes are the more aggressive chickens getting the leftovers quickest from our dinner table. I would say all the Dominique's barely get any they are always behind and less dominant

1yr old Dominique found dead in coop today!

They eat layer feed from he local mill..I would say they get a large handful of leftovers from the family a day split between 9... I mean 8 now ;( ...chickens. I would say it's their snack. Low percentage. I could be wrong but I am hoping it's the chicken that has weird calcium bumped eggs. The...

1yr old Dominique found dead in coop today!

Last night they all got on their roost. Today I go down to collect eggs and a chicken layed there dead next to, but not in the nesting box. No Intruders. She seemed fine yesterday. The rest of the birds seem fine today. Recent changes: 4 days ago they got a lot of hard corn for the first time...

    What happened?

What I think happened. Around 10/30 I aligned their outdoor run with about 15 straw bales. Large ones. Now prey cant easily see the chickens but they are picking at it. Straw is low in nutrients. I think they are filling their bellies with nothing and the days are getting shorter. Right? In...

"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles." Sun Tzu These predators are messing with the wrong chicken owner. Always one step ahead. I learned how to make and set snare traps the day after the 2nd Fox. 10 days ago...
