Ditto. I we feel the same way. DH wondered if he would recognize the man's name from his pre eye doctor days. He said he doesn't. Man did a lifetime of good that will live on long after him.
Mine definitely wasn't worth it....well maybe the sour cream chocolate cake was worth it.
On top of it all, Sore foot, Upset achy stomach, general ill feeling. Tonight I was making dinner, took a step back to head for the refrigerator without realizing our big old sweet hound was laying right...
He.....OMG! And 101 years old? Talk about a life well lived. God Bless him! All the lives he helped save! Can you say what his name was, Cynthia? My husband asked. He worked for a electro-medical company's engineering lab that helped design and build defibrillators and EKG machines before he...
Mine was green beans that looked innocent but I quickly discovered that they were swimming in some sort of oil/grease, whatever. Hamburger that wasn't the 93/17 that DH and I on occasion eats....and my own sour cream chocolate cake that I made with whole sour cream instead of light because it...
@Granny Hatchet, you keep up the good work. Sorry if we made you feel that way. We who are nurses can be pretty intense about such things, I know. Comes from experience and speaking for myself, I want people I care about to be with me as long as possible and as healthy as possible. So for me, I...
Had a rough spring and summer. Had to have my shoulder repaired along with my biceps muscle on my right side, naturally. Finally starting to feel better after 5 months post surgery but I wouldn't want to go through it again. Then DH had surgery in July so basically I want a redo on 2025, LOL.
Thanks @Rambling Iris. I'm not sure what happened to Peanut. I suspected an injury at first but the fact that it was progressing I started to suspect it was connected to Marek's. I tried the sling but she kept flipping herself out of it. That progressed to her flipping herself on her back and...
Hey Shrek, what's new? Hope you are feeling better.
Last night at the picnic one of the attendees brought his service dog. A 9 month old Mastiff. Already over 100 pounds the dog had a grown weight of over 200. The guy was using him as a service dog in training and 'Max' was trying to drag him...
I put her down. Cried my way through it. I have to remind myself that we are their guardians here on earth and it is our duty to release them when there is no cure nor quality of life.
I loved this little hen to pieces. Fly free Peanut.
Blue the recipe is here on the home bakers thread on BYC. It is an 'antique' Pennsylvania Dutch/German recipe passed down from my paternal grandmother to my mother. Mom always said it was the only good thing she ever gave her. I reminded her about dad and she repeated the statement. Always a...
Thanks for the Tag, Coach and yes, I had 3 birds with ocular Marek's and they all looked like the classical pictures on line. All wanted to stay out of bright light (uveitis is VERY painful to both animals and humans) all had diminished vision and all died of progressive neuro symptoms and...
Just got back from our HAM club picnic. Had a great time. Lots of delicious food for the pot luck. I made a sour cream choco cake. First one I've made in 5 years or more. All I had on hand was robust extra dark cocoa so I used it and held my breath. Luckily it turned out delicious. Got home and...
Have to admit, I'm bushed. Had PT today, 15 mile drive to Kirksville, then stopped at Buchheits to pick up chicken feed, then back home, stopping at the neighborhood Amish bulk store to pick up powdered sugar. DH and I have a HAM club picnic to go to tomorrow night and I'm going to bake a sour...
