To me, they both look like runners....how does it walk upright? I had runners and when they are calm, they walked like normal ducks....when they were alert they were standing straight up
You more then likely have two females :) And yes it's that time of year for molting...my pekins are currently and they are looking a little haggard lol
Looks sort of brownish...but I guess it explains it. I know atleast one is laying as I find an egg nearly every morning. I didn't know their bills changed color like that. They also seem to be going through molt..thank you for the info :)
What could it possibly be? I have tried wiping it off thinking they were just dirty as they didn't come from the most stellar conditions. They are pekins. We just got 2 ducks and a drake. The drake looks fine, but the females look like they have something all over their bills? I saw some like...
I know you have already gone to the vets lol but I had this happen with my flock when I switched them over to Flock Raiser.....mostly just the males, even the gander, once I switched them back they were fine!
Well...checked the ratio in this last clutch....after losing another duckling to the **** turkeys a couple days ago it brought us down to 8 ducklings.....3 boys 5 girls :) I'd say the ratios have been good with these two hatches
Can you tell which one ISN'T hers? Amazing what just two weeks can do to a duckling LOL This baby has been trying to get with Ellie since it was born, really weird that it doesn't want to stay with it's mother!
I had 4 girls 3 boys with my last hatch....not sure about this one that just hatched, haven't checked them yet lol
Here's a picture of the newest babies :) There's 10 of them all together!
It's hard to tell until they are in their adult plumage.....but by now it should either have a really loud quack...or more of a monotone rasp. Girls have loud quacks, boys have raspy quacks
Not everybody with ducks can afford to put a pond in nor do some of us have room...I use kiddie pools and empty and refill every day...works for me and my ducks are happy
Thank god our 3 month old boy hasn't discovered his wings yet! He's done a million zoomies around their fenced in yard, which is rather hilarious to watch lmao and he hops like a rabbit!
On a good note.....Ellie bean's clutch is externally pipped!!!! SOOO excited! We are down to 10 good eggs...
That does look like the vent area and if he smells then it is infected, I'm not sure what exactly it is, possibly intestines, but if he were mine I would probably cull. Just my opinion
