Yes. I have a farm. I'm going to grow them out and see if anything looks nice or desirable. If not they will go to freezer camp.
I swear one looks like a RIR. He is the friendliest of the group. He comes up to eat out of my hand and will let me catch him easily. Not that I need him, but so...
So I am outside this morning and hear what sounds like a Tarzan call, except under water. Yup, at least 1 cockerel in those sexed EEers that were supposed to be all female.
When I heard it, it shocked me. The dogs freaked. Aries thought someone was in her chickens and ran down to check it out...
I beg to differ on the sizes. The feed store had 2 sizes. One in red packaging the other in green. The green were half the size of the red. And the red was definitely big enough to join 2 cattle panels together.
@aart I was just at the feed store and tada, right next to the register they had several hog rings. The Decker's hump in the green box would work very well to join two panels together.
Agreed to an extent. So many videos on Youtube showing folks using hog rings. I couldn't find any that size so I just used wire. It was a PITA, but I did over do it. If there are hog rings out there that would work, it would be great.
Well, 2 days ago I got 2 eggs from the 2 Reds at noonish. Last night @ 4ish I got 4 eggs from the 2 hens! As of noon today, 1 egg. WTH?! I am now documenting the time I collect each day.
Well, the big birds are eating it like normal feed. The younger birds are eating 2x as much as dry feed and mob me at the door to the hoop coop every morning.
So today marks day one of feeding FF to the crew. The 10 EEers jumped right in no issues. However, the year old BOs and NHRs just look at it like WTH. It will be interesting to see how they take to it.
As far as new stuff goes, the BOs and NHRs love shrimp tails and run up to yank them from...
Does your fish and wildlife allow for dispatching of nuisance animals? Here in KY you can get a permit to do just that with most wildlife. Rubber slugs sound fun though...
Not sure on the size of your coop, but this could work for a smaller coop....or maybe a pair of them.

I live about 2 hours from Mt. Healthy and had looked them to pick up from. Shipping is just a killer for me .I would rather pick up and know they are being watched on their journey. Better a couple hour car ride than 12-24 plus hours in the mail.
I am going to make him a roo pen just forvhim. See if it calms him down. The guy who gave him to me had him and another NHR roo in the same small cage. He was calm as could be. Held him like a cat and stroked his feathers. Now he is with girls he thinks he is barney bad azz....
Yup. 2 years ago I went to my DR and said I wanted to go back on a hi protein diet. She said it wasn't good for me. I've done them before and had great results and felt the best when on them. Well, I researched KETO and started 2 months ago. It is a hi fat, 70% and medium protein, 30% diet. I am...
Well, I am pretty fond of canned peaches over fresh, but that is a rarity.
Did something happen around the feeder that spooked them? I'd try pitching a handful of feed out away from the feeder and see who eats. If they all dive in like they are starving it may have to do with a fear of the feeder.
If they are free ranging, could they be getting enough food during the day that they don't need the feed you are putting out? Is the feed you offer fresh, smell ok, changed to a new brand?
Others that know way more will be along shortly...
So I was on a quest to start out with chickens nearly 8 years ago. I grew up on various farms from horses to cattle to sheep. Had a great understanding of those animals but I had never been around chickens other than folks I worked for. So I started doing my research and came across the breeds I...
