Hello, I just came across this thread in a Google search! Hoping some of you are still on here and in TC. I now live here as well. Dang near impossible to find anything in writing about city ordinances.
My little Bunny is quickly weaseling his/her way into #1! Eleven weeks old tomorrow. Think it could possibly be a pullet? Either way, s/he'll be very loved and have a forever home!
I have 2 chicks that were hatched at school. One has an obvious case of splayed legs. I wrapped her legs together and she at least doesn't flip over now. Another one had gone almost 30 hours try to hatch so as a last resort I helped her out (on Sunday). She cannot walk and seems to just be flat...
We are hatching chicks at my school. This was the first to hatch yesterday. Today 3 more went into the brooder with her. This one relentlessly attacked the other 3 smaller ones. I have a hen laying on 4 eggs due to hatch next week. So I brought this one home and put her under Tiny's wing. She...
I'm a first grade teacher and our first baby at school hatched today. I know wing sexing doesn't work in all breeds, but if it did for this one, she'd be a girl. I'm curious if anyone has an idea about breed? I'm sure she's a mix but I am clueless about breeds. She has feathered feet.
My very first hen has gone broody. She's barely over a year old and has been on 3 eggs (one is hers) since yesterday morning. I've reluctantly decided to let her have her babies. I'm nervous though as I'm new to this.
I know everyone says mom will take care of everything but I still have...
This is my roo, Honey. He just turned one this week. About last October he went to live at my son in law's grandparents' house because he was becoming aggressive here. They have a lot of land and chickens who free range (he was in a run here) so we thought he'd do better there. He did for a...
I haven't noticed any other symptoms but I'll look closer tomorrow. Unfortunately, they're all usually gone to bed by the time I get home during standard daylight time. It's been a few days since I've first noticed it.
I know hens can stop laying during winter, molting, etc. but this confuses me. My BCM laid her very first egg on Dec 5. She then laid 2 more, and hasn't laid one since. Why even start and then stop? Lol. She's about 7/8 months old.
Got my first colored egg today, a beautiful light green from my sweet Licorice! She's my first Easter Egger to lay. Up to 4 hens laying now. All the others lay different shades of brown. The last picture is hers next to my Naked Neck's egg.
