This beautiful chicken was sold to me (at 2 weeks old) as an Araucana, but do they usually have crests like this?? Also, would you trim it? It seems like they can’t see and I spook them accidentally all the time but I’m worried about them moving their head whilst I’m trying to trim.
I am full of questions today. Are these birds rare? I just realized after researching, I have one? It looks like I cut off her butt in the pic, but I did not.
Hey everyone,
I bought lavender araucana chicks from a seller on ebay. It hatched out today with striping and not silver feathering. On the left is a standard lavender Araucana chick but I don't know if this one is a pure breed. Please help!!
This Araucana belongs to someone I know.. They’ve asked for opinions on if it’s a boy or a girl. I’m feeling boy. However others have said it’s a girl.
Any opinions?
:)
Hi!
I am about to add a few new growers to our flock, including a Lavender Araucana. I know these are notoriously difficult to sex at a young age, but any tips would be most welcome! The breeder is going to let me take two and pay for one, in the hope that at least one will be a pullet, and she...
Hi everyone! At least this community might appreciate them, we have just brought the first araucana roosters to our little backyard flock. We don't have names for them yet, and the previous owner didn't name them. They were free ranging on 7 hectares, let's hope our 2700 sqm open run and the 15...
I recently acquired a rooster. The intention is to hatch olive/easter egger. I just want to confirm that this is an Araucana, perhaps Isobel? Or is this a cross with something else. Seller was not sure.
Thank you
I got some scrap Araucana eggs from a breeder to test an incubator I was trying to fix.
The eggs were all the same size and all the same hue of blue.
However I got these 2 chicks that have a tail. They are 2 and half weeks old. I think the light one is a male and the dark one is a pullet. What...
We purchased this guy with a pullet as a day old chicks from a breeder who said they were Araucana. The pullet has tufts and is all white and a small pea comb. In the last few weeks I noticed that his comb seems off as it is not what I thought was a pea comb. It did look like a pea initially...
Hello! I am in Des Moines, Iowa wanting to breed tufted rumpless araucana. I’d like to purchase a high quality tufted rooster and hen. Either full grown, promising teenagers, or hatching eggs from the appropriate parentage. Thanks for reading. I’m new so apologies if something is listed...
Hi all,
This is a 5 week old Australian Araucana (Our breeding standards are different).
I know it’s early- but what do you think? Boy is my guess because its comb looks pink & has 3 rows of peas already. It’s also quite pink under the chin.
I’m new with this breed so I welcome your expertise
Hi there, new to raising chicks. I have 3 araucana chicks who are 4 weeks old, and they're growing and feathering a lot slower compared to other 4 week old araucana chick photos I see online.
They seem healthy to me, however compared to my other chicks of the same age (I have 16 total), they...
...on trying to hatch some eggs next year, for fun, not for selling. My goal is to have beautiful colours of eggshells.
My current flock has 2 araucanas, 2 cream legbars (not purebred but pretty close), 2 leghorns, 1 marans 1 olive egger, and the rest lays normal lightbrown eggs, 15 hens now all...
Hi, I'm from Brazil and learning about the different standards of Araucanas around the world. Something is being difficult for me to understand. The APA's standard requires the ear tuffs but not every bird will have them, considering that the Homozygous birds dye in the egg and Heterozygous can...
Hi! I know it's too soon to tell, but would you share your best guesses?
These are supposed to be Legbar, Olive egger and Araucana chicks between 10 and 14 days old.
Note that Araucana chickens in Italy don't usually have beard, muffs or tail, but they sometimes have tufts, I can't find info...
