    Most broodys know when to leave the nest and for how long. I rarely see mine out, but I know she has been out when I see the large pile of "broody poo" ugh!

    Mama hen pecking egg? Update and HELP!

    Sorry for your chaos! We just had this happen last week. Mama killed the first three to hatch and is taking good care of the five to survive. I chalked it up to mother nature knowing best. Good luck with the others!

    New to chickens..coop help

    I'm not sure of the measurement of that coop. But for that many chickens you need to have 32 to 40 square foot of floor space, and more for the run.

    Barred Rock Gender?

    We picked up some new chicks today and were told these two are pullets and about 2 1/2 weeks old. Now after reading some other posts I am beginning to question their gender. What do you think? Chick #1 Chick #2

    Broody Hen eating eggs on day 19? UPDATE- 5 live chickies...so cute!

    Update- Not sure why she did what she did, but we have 5 survivors out of 8. She's taking care of these just as she should. I guess mother nature stilll knows best. Here's hoping they are all hens!
