Lockdown starts tomorrow night. I started with 16 eggs and it looks like 2 should hatch. 2 other ones started developing good but stopped around day 10. There may be a late bloomer in there but I didn't see movement. I'm taking Thursday off to egg sit...
Eggs arrived safely around noon. We let them set fat end up for about 8 hours since all of the air cells were intact and looked good. They have now been in the 'bator for about 2 hours and I have 2 that have a small spot that looks like the egg is sweating, but the humidity is only 35%. The pics...
Thanks. There is a mercury thermometer in there not pictured.that one reads 100° on the dot. I have 3 hygrometers but 1 is way off. The digital and 1 mechanical are about the same. The other mechanical says 50ish.
This will be my first time incubating eggs. I've been reading everything that I can find on the subject. My setup has been running for the last 4 days. My question is should I shut down the bator when I put the eggs in and let everything warm up together? The eggs are shipping from NY to OH. I'm...
Anybody in northeast Ohio maybe looking to add a roo or 3? I have a beautiful Buff Brahma/Easter Egger mix, about 6 months old. And I also have 2 Buff Brahma/Barred Rock mixes, about 5 months old. They look like rocks, but built like a brahma. 1 has feathered feet.
My EE's that have the muffs, lay blue/green eggs. My EE's that do not have muffs, lay a pinkish egg. But that rule only applies to my 4, as far as I know.
All of our EE's have been mellow. He is really skittish around the hens that he's in with. Really, the only other bird that he doesn't have a problem with is our other little roo(BBxSS mix).
The coloring really threw me off. As soon as I saw the hackles & saddles coming in, I started wondering(worrying). I think I caught him crowing this morning. He's in with another roo(got them at the same age), and they get along for now, but I'm not sure if they'll continue to get along.
I can...
I've had EE's before, but this one is throwing me off. We were told that she is a hen when we got her as a buddy for our one rescued chick from our first hatch. But now that the pointed feathers have appeared, I started to wonder. She-or he- is about 14 weeks old. Thanks!
He was the first of all of our chicks to get a bright red comb and wattles, so we started looking for pics on the web, and then posted here on byc to confirm. Beautiful birds with a great temperament. He didn't start crowing until he was about 12 weeks old though.
Updated pics...I messed up on the 1, she is a BB x Wyandotte cross(not sure if GLW or SLW)
BB x Australorp, ~8 weeks. Pretty sure she's a pullet.
BB x Wyandotte cross. I'm not sure how I missed it with that wide comb....pretty sure pullet also.~8wks
