Anyone from Wisconsin on here have a RO rooster for sale? I have 1 hen and would love to get her a roo! Right now I have her with a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte and have 1 chick from them and more due to hatch in 2 weeks. Not many have RO's around here and would love to have more! I am a member of...
I was just thinking it would be really cool to see a time lapse video showing the lacing progression on a BLRW, from chick to adult!!! One for each blue, black, and splash. Is there one already?
I will never order straight run again from a hatchery. I am now working with smaller farms and have 2 roosters that are breeder quality(from a farm) and my 3 hens(splash but thats all I got from the hatchery, not a single blue) that I will work with this year.
I only ended up with 3 out of 15 being hens! It seemed hard to tell for sure until they started getting the rooster feathers. Some of their combs didn't mature as fast and that was what was confusing....
We only have the 1, so I don't have a comparison. Not sure on his weight? I would maybe guess somewhere closer to the 6 lbs. The pics I shared on here earlier of him, people thought male, but we'll see I guess. I did get 4 babies so hopefully whatever Fuzzy is, hopefully I have an opposite for...
Fuzzy is now about 4 1/2 months old. Is he still looking like a male? I thought he would have more red by now or is that still to come? He is our first Muscovy duck.
The past 5 springs, until this one, I tilled up the outline of a square, but leave a couple feet untilled(doorway) on 1 side. Then I sow sunflower seeds in thick so that when they grow up my children had a little sunflower fort! They loved it and so did the birds! I have a picture of the kids...
It's looking like 16 out of 20 BLRW chicks that I got this spring are cockerals! Uugggh! It's really too bad because this breed seems like the roosters usually have pretty good temperaments . Obviously I cannot keep them all, so I am going to offer them for sale, to try to recoup some of the...
The turkeys are roughly the same size and all very active but as far as the acting like a boy part, one is very dominant and seems to always be strutting, red and snood hanging. The 2nd in line does too but not nearly as often or as meaningful.
Our chickens that are giving me issues, maybe...
Haha! I didn't even try! I am having a horrible year for sexing birds! Turkeys and chickens are both throwing me for a loop this year. I could have sworn I had a hen out of the 3 in this batch, but apparently I was wrong, they are maturing at incredibly different rates, making the less dominant...
Just wanted to give an update on the ducklings. The one passed away last night but the others are doing great. They aren't gasping and they are eating and drinking a ton. Hopefully all will be well now!
I did have them swimming in warm water in the bathtub. This afternoon I set up a much larger brooder in the shed and put a cool whip bowl with a lid on it half cut out, so that they can still dunk their heads, but can't swim. They should stay a lot dryer in there. They do have electrolytes in...
I bought five muscovy ducklings, last weekend, Inoticed within a day or two that one of them was breathing a little heavier, kind of gasping.I did a little reading and suggestions were to add Duramycin to their water. they are in a brooder box with a heat lamp that they can get out from...
