This rooster is a product of my Golden Cuckoos. As a chick he looked like a splash. Before I decide to re-home him, can anyone offer any educated feedback on his color and whether or not he would be useful in my GCM breeding program?
Thank you, Don! It's nice to chat again! These chicks are from the first hatch this year using two GCM roosters I grew out from last year. I'm not sure how they will feather in. I'll post pictures of them, and the others, as they mature. :)
Several experienced breeders suggested the cross to create a line of GCM that breeds true and improves a few characteristics. For example, all but one of the chicks hatched so far have feathered shanks.
If anyone is interested, I can post pictures as they mature so others can see how they turn...
These are some of the golden cuckoo project chicks I've been hatching. I crossed two different pens of a golden cuckoo male over black copper females. There is one golden cuckoo hen in with one rooster, so some of the chicks came from that combination.
