    They're on regular feed and can free range for bugs all day every day. I occasionally give them treats such as peas, lettuce etc etc but their feather quality as of the last few weeks has declined. Now several peopla have said it could be that they're moulting and perhaps im just over cautious...

    There was some squabbling which is obviously to be expected but I think everyone seems OK now! Going to look into the protein increase over the next week or two. My hours at work have dropped dramatically so funds are real tight but we'll figure something out

    I did try the cat food but they really didn't seem fond of it. Neither did they seem at all interested in the eggs. I haven't tried them on mealworms yet so I'll have to figure out a cheaper way of getting those frequently. Edit: might just buy soem regular worms from bunnings (our DIY store)...

    So I boiled some eggs and put them down but they were not interested at all. Didn't touch them. Any other suggestions for increasing their protein? :)

    OK! Thanks again for the help everyone. Just woke up and let her out of jail and found out one of my other girls had broken INTO jail to go and say hello lol. So hopefully things will be better from now :)

    So just increase their protein? I'll scramble up some eggs :p EDIT: Just to add, i did try once again adding some cat food into their regular feed and it did go down but i think i'd rather do some eggs or buy some mealworms perhaps

    No i dont think she's broody, we're pretty good at staying on top of collecting eggs so none of our girls ever really sit on their nest too long. I did make a thread a couple of weeks ago about poor feather quality in my flock...

    Alright! I'll look into some mealworms for them perhaps then, not tried them with those before, I know they just don't touch cat food at all. Maybe they're still in the process of moulting then, because there are a lot of feathers about in oru garden! Thanks for the help all!

    Just done a quick google search for it, is the only difference between the normal brewers yeast and the nutritional stuff the fact that its flaked rather than a powder?
