My bun has a bunch of toys, I choose more natural toys, no dyes, no glues. Just natural materials, safe wooden toys. She nibbles them and picks them up and runs around with them
She also loves tunnels, but I tend to get the ones made with wooden sticks held together with wire, as she chews...
My girls are mid moult currently, not laying, and just growing in new feathers now. Their appetite has shrunk pretty hugely over the past few days, they'll eat treats but only nibble at their food. I'm being left with essentially a full bucket of feed in the evenings.
Is this normal during...
Amazing! Thank you, I've done my best for her and definitely learned some new skills, should I ever need them in the future :)
There shouldn't be any sharp gravel or hazards in the pen but I will be going over everything and making it clean and more comfortable for her, to be safe.on that...
Another happy update, she has gotten her appetite back pretty much completely, she is eating about the same amount as her sister, perhaps slightly less. There is a little bit of lingering heat in her ankle, but the swelling is down almost completely, and her foot pad is shrinking down and...
Good news!
She has started to eat her normal food, just a bit, but it's a start!
Her poops have gone from green to the usual brown colour, and she is able to walk again very well, with a very mild limp.
I'm still doing 1-2 tube feeds a day at present as she's still not eating anywhere close to...
Update:
we ended up not needing the x ray, and she started to improve just when we started to dread the worst- the antibiotics started working.
However she began heavily losing weight as she stopped eating, after losing about 100 grams we started force feeding her raw egg, critical care...
Happy to update that she ate two strawberries and a handful of mealworms this morning
:celebrate
Hopefully a good sign as I've officially run out of eggs to feed her. I still have some critical care and I've I've blending oats with water and nutritional yeast/rooster booster when I'm waiting...
That's great news! So happy to hear this.
Honestly the brewers yeast should be a good enough precaution, I don't think you'll need to continue niacin tablets once she's feeling better. Alternatively you could use nutritional yeast which has a bit more niacin in than brewers, but either can make...
She's still refusing to eat, even her favourite snacks.
But on the upside she's getting a lot more energy, she's even started sassing me when I have to take her for a wash!
I hope so! She's been getting a bit better, the last thing we want is for her to starve herself. Any idea how often I should feed her until she's got her appetite back?
Her bumble might be starting to get smaller, based on my check of it this evening, hopefully the antibiotics manage to finish...
Will do
On that note I have a question, I found a product called critical care formula which is aimed at birds, reptiles and mammals, it consists solely of dextrose and whey protein powder
The whey is throwing me off, do you think it'd be safe to give to her? I thought it may have enough...
Could she have eaten something toxic? Or possibly drank stagnant water?
I think this is the next thing to rule out.
If she is pooping, I'd guess that it's not an impaction. Brown and runny doesn't sound abnormal
I assume it's not possible for an animal to have gotten hold of her? Is it possible...
...or feeling lethargic/tired, we often advise treating for niacin deficiency to be safe. The treatment would be warm (but not hot) soaks, supervised***, so she can get the weight off her feet. About 10 minutes or until she's tired of it per session. Most importantly we advise giving them 1 ml...
