Can someone point me to a pic of a "Blue" wheaten marans "female"?
We hatched out some Blue Wheaten Marans eggs.
It's my understanding we could have Blues/Wheatens, and Splashes.
I can find lots of pics of Wheaten and Splash hens but is there not a "blue hen"?
No problem finding Blue roos but...
Anyone in the Smyrna/Murfreesboro area with really pretty "blue" eggs?
We're looking to add color to the egg basket.
We'd really like to find a few Ameraucanas that come from a nice blue egg or maybe eggs themselves (we can incubate).
The ones we've found so far could possibly be show quality...
If it only has two wires it may be possible that it's grounded within.
Try grounding a metal part of the motor and see if that is your situation.
I suspect this is how it was designed.

Double check me on this, cause I'm too tired right now to look it up, but I think that poisonous snakes always have "slotted" pupils and non-poisonous snakes have "round" pupils.
Also, if you look on their underside behind their vent you will see that one has a single row of scales and...

You definitely have plenty of copperheads in your area!
We lived on Bull Shoals Lake near Cedar Creek. It was something like 6 miles up to the post office. After a rain the huge nightcrawler worms would cross the road by the hundreds. We would go along with a bucket and pick them up for...

Pumpkinpup, we hate to see you going through this.
We have a family member going into the last stages of cancer as we write and their is nothing else the doctors can do. He has had a very rough time the last few days and it's on our heart continually, so we are in constant prayer.
It will be...

Here's a helpful discussion link on breeding bars.

They are discussing the Legbar but I think it's the same for the Welbar.
Breed the "black" barred roos...
Okiehen,
Sorry to hear about the first Welbar eggs that didn't do well.
We're hoping with you that the eggs you have now do well.
On sexing by early feathering ...forget it, at least as far as I can tell. Maybe you can tell by small white marks that will turn out to be barring. Some of our 10...
WOW!!!, chickpeaz, great pics!
I am so glad to hear that you and the children got to share the excitement of the first egg hatching.
I still remember well the first eggs we ever hatched and the excitement of the children, even neighbor children. It was one of many homeschooling projects we did...

We're real happy to have these chicks!
The postal service is rough on eggs and these were no exception.
I forget how many, but several of the Wellie eggs had floating bubbles.
4 Wellie eggs never started. 2 quit in the last week, probably around day 17 or 18. But a few of the chicks...

A pack of stray dogs got after three of ours recently.
Two of them found brush but a third one wasn't so lucky.
The dogs were caught in the act and run off within a minute or two but one of them apparently took his victim with him leaving only a pile of feathers.
Sorry to hear of your loss.
Hope you had a Happy Birthday Okiehen!!!
Due 7/6:
12 - Welsummers - Okiehen eggs!!!
6 - Blue Anadalusions - Okiehen eggs!!!
14 - Buff Orpingtons - Green Family Farms

A quick search for "automatic chicken door" turns up some results such as this.
