He unfortunately passed about 6 hours ago while I was at college. I would still like to try and find out what happened for future knowledge and a bit of closure.
He was very antisocial and aggressively possessive of food, so more likely to be the one keeping others from food.
He was...
Hi guys, I have a rooster here about 3 years old who has been slowly losing weight. I've been watching for the last couple of weeks to make sure he is definitely eating, but his crop never seems to fill up. He is typically on an average layer feed but I've been offering him raw egg, yoghurt &...
Quick update, he is very much enjoying the extra attention.
He's been improving the last few days. He is clearly still in some pain and takes regular breaks to put his head down, but they're not as frequent and he's been moving around and eating and doing chicken stuff.
again, really...
I gave him a tiny amount of aspirin the first day as I was wondering if it could be wry neck caused by injury & inflammation, but was too scared to give him very much, and haven't given him any since.
Thanks for your input btw.
Yes he is standing most of the time, I've tried to get him to sit down as it means that less comes out of his crop. Seems like he might be holding his head a little higher?
He managed to eat some food by himself yesterday but it was very awkward. Today he's not as interested.
One of my roosters broke through the wire and killed a rooster in the adjoining pen while I wasn't there.
This was on Sunday, I gave him a brief check over the next two days before I put him away for the night, he seemed fine both times. On Tuesday I found him standing in his shed with his...
In my experience having them in adjoining pens with wire between etc is actually worse, as they never really establish dominance and are endlessly at odds. Eventually the wire wears away and one breaks in and a fight starts when I'm not around/expecting it, which I'd rather avoid.
Kebonnix 12 egg automatic here. Pretty basic.
Humidity display was too high during the first 18 days, about 75% at times if I remember right, and that was with only one section of the bowl filled. Didn't have a hygrometer to double check.
Only set a few as a trial run but the eggs I set did...
I've my heart set on a lil collie at the rescue centre, but I'll be at college all day soon so it's not a good time for me to get a dog.
I'm sure he'll find a home soon enough though, he's a great breed and looks like a sweetheart.
