Places heating pad on warm inside the crockpot. I did leave the lid cracked a little and placed a wet paper towel up on the side for humidity. Good luck!
They own a mill and told me they just cut all the lumber from the tree not too long ago so it’s very green wood and completely untreated. I wanted to seal it somehow for longevity. The outside will be painted with regular exterior paint that we painted our house with, not stain.
I purchased a new chicken coop and when it was delivered I was told it is untreated wood. What can I use to treat the wood and protect it before I put my birds in? It’s fresh cut wood too so she told me to wait a month before painting the outside ( painting it to match our house). Having a hard...
2 of my chicks are starting to get pasty butt. It’s not dried onto it’s vent area but it’s just staying soft all over it’s bum. I keep going to clean if off and put vaseline on it but it just keep staying super messy. My broody hen is taking care of them so I can only catch them sometimes where...
She gets out of everything I put her in so I have left her out of the cup and egg carton and she just has her shoes and hobble on. And yes momma hen took the other 2 babies last night. She was very happy to have them. I think she would take anything!lol
Normally burn wood, but we don’t need to, just helps with taking the chill out of the basement ( and it’s free of course) lol but I just stopped it for now. Hopefully it warmsup here soon!
thank you, I taped the feet for now.. the brooder is 90 now. It was running 95-100 yesterday because I had our wood stove running. I left the wood stove off today so it cooled down a bit to 90.
One of this chicks still isn’t walking around like the other 2. It just flutters it’s wings and wobbles, but mostly lays there. I put some save a chick in their water today but not sure if I should let the poor think down. Any ideas? I wish I could post videos on here to show
Thank you! I was totally winging it because i didn’t expect my hen to not finish her job! Lol next time I will be prepared but I ended up saving 3 of the 5 eggs she abandoned. I honestly don’t think the other 2 were good because anytime I candled I didn’t see any sort of movement, the other 3...
I separated the last one to hatch because it isn’t walking too well yet and the others won’t leave it alone. Do I need water in there yet where it only hatched 6 hours ago? Or can I leave it in here with nothing and put them all back together in a few hours when it’s perked up a little?
The 3rd hatched early this morning! I don’t see movement or hear peeping in the other 2 so I feel they most likely aren’t viable. Is there a way I can tell for sure before I throw them?
