The ve
Thank you! Not sure why I didn't think of yogurt. So it doesn't have to be LIQUID, just soft foods, even at first? I wonder if applesauce would be ok?
My hen had crop surgery this morning but isn't eating yet. Advice? What sorts of foods can I give? Vet doesn't want to send her home since she snot eating yet so she's staying the night there. But I wonder if I can do more with her at my home.
If this were to work, how quickly would you expect to see a reduction in the size of a hard playdough-like crop?
Also, is it ok to tube feed the mixture into her crop to ensure she's getting it?

My goodness. Ok. Im struggling to understand how an avian vet could be so wrong. And feeling I screwed up horribly because the hen who died went to her. :( I have so much guilt.
Thank you all for all your help, every one of you
I have peppermint flavored and fruit I read peppermint could be toxic but seems to be the standard Tums flavor. Vet said to get "original" or "plain" but I haven't seen that at Kroger or Walgreens.
Ok. Thank you. I've had issues with one vet and then giving super low dosing and then another giving seemingly correct dosing of meds. The lesser wise vet gave me this led but said 1 ml once a day. Oy oy oy.
I'm glad to have finally been heard by a vet and feel like I have some answers at least. Now I'm hoping and praying she'll get better.
Good news-the other I was concerned about has been doing well today.
Saw the one vet I like, that I feel is competent. Been waiting this whole time to get in. Turns out she appears to have bits of bone stuck inside. ("Bone chips in her proventriculus") They aren't rounded and could perforate. There's also a worry that they'll clump together and perforate. Also...

@Debbie292d I found oral fluconazale. Three pre-syringes doses. She already had Monistat twice today. Anyone know if I can give her the fluconazale as well? Or the dosage for a five pounder? Her crop has been loaded all day, not going down
The bright green stool is hers. The other is...
Thank you both for your advice here. I'm clearly getting little to no help from the vet, and apparently more often incorrect info. I'm starting to worry if she actually did the stool sample or not because she initially said she wouldn't. I'm also completely astounded that I had a clearly dying...
@azygous @Debbie292d
But that means that the vet gave the wrong dose to my other hen who died. She was 7 lbs and the day before she died was given .1 cc of Baytril.
Also, because I'm using that bottle with the amount in the bottle being for a .1 cc dose, that means I don't have enough or even...
I meant to say I'm giving her .1 cc, twice a day. Is that correct? The hen it was for is actually bigger than this one and that was her dose.
I wish she would have instead of leaving me guessing, which is really all I've been doing since all this started.
