20 phone calls later and......... they are indeed availiable in the uk! BUT at a price. seems there is a bit of a movement against them over here, a bit of a sniffy "there just cross's and not for the purerist" there is a small hatchery 100 mile or so from me where i know the owners well. i am...

So you want to know what diatomacious earth is and how it works?

Quote: Look at the graph at the bottom that gives the 8 week results. There were only 2 weeks that DE was SLIGHTLY better than doing nothing at all. At the end, the group using DE had the highest FEC And just in case you didn't notice, this "scientific " study was done by Mount Sylvia...

Shipping eggs from US to UK has any one done this?

i have done a bit of digging , and indeed there are alot of hoops to jump, for a start you need a USA vet to do a certificate that the eggs are disease free (how on earth they gonna do that!) plus you need customs clearance etc. do you have a pic of the breed your after? i will have a ask around...

Catastrophe! 100 % Failure! graphic pics

i am going to go for a temp spike. you can get away with humidity drifts, and to be totaly honest very very few people have accurate humidity equipment, most pay under $50 for hygrometers and as accurate sensors alone start at around $50, those generaly used have a good 12% margin of error. so i...

    lime for fly control

Quote: It WILL kill insects on their bodies if you dust them with it It's pointless to feed it to them. It is NOT a "dewormer" no matter how many people say it is It's mixed with grain to control insects IN the grain, and that is why it was given a "Food Grade" rating You'll find most of the...

the whole stop turnign 3 days b4 they hatch is fake

it may come as a surprise to some but despite the loss of eggs per foot square of area in the incubator, we ALWAYS incubate and HATCH with the eggs laying down. space wise this is less efficiant but hatch wise gives us consistantly better hatches, off the top of my head i cant remeber the...

the whole stop turnign 3 days b4 they hatch is fake

Quote: No it's not a pointless task. You've already convinced me that a 97% hatch rate is about as good as you could expect and I know that our hens don't manage that kind of percentage. You can't sway everybody but that's not the point - if someone else reads this post in six months time they...

    Really frustrated!!! Email from breeder...

again just to balance both sides here are my thoughts.......... large numbers of chciks together in adequate brooders is not a problem, from a business perspective you have to do it. open food bins NEVER EVER would a legit responsable and preoffesional hatchery have open feed bins. main reasons...
