I don't have a way to isolate her outside this time of year so the other girls would be under the lamp too. I don't want them to go soft on the cold tolerance since we still have a couple of months of hard winter left here. Guess I will have to transition her slowly.
I have a hen that has been wheezing all day. With help from my local feed supplier/farmer I 've now got her on antibiotics for a cold. I have her isolated in my laundry room which is inside my house and gets heat. The farmer told me that the hen will not be able to tolerate the cold outside...
Mine have been molting since September. I haven't had an egg since October and they are 2 1/2 years old. I have people calling for eggs I even went to a local farmer with 60 chickens and they are getting 2 eggs a day. What up? Is it a national revolt?
Its gotten to the point where I've had so many people ask me if I had a web site that I feel like I need one. I also have a lot of local businesses that want me to link to them. Thats another reason why I need my own site as opposed to Etsy. I tried to do it a couple years ago w/ Yahoo...
Does anyone know where I can get White Acre Pea seeds? All the suppliers seem to be out. They are a southern pea. Used to eat them back in the day in Florida. Any Floridians out there that can get them locally?
I've been a crafter for over 30 years. I sew, make candles and soap. I've been selling my stuff by attending local craft fairs etc. I've been investigating selling over the Internet. Yes, I know about Etsy but I want my own web site. Building a site looks very time consuming. I have...
I use the DLM w/ hay or straw. When I clean the coop I usually have a 1 foot stack of hay under the roosts that are saturated w/ poop and pee. Does the DE make the pee drier? Sorry for the stupid question. I usually put baking soda on the wet boards and try to air dry before recovering with...
I sell mine for $3 per doz to the local smoke house. They in turn sell to the public for $4.99. I also sell at the farmers market for $5 per doz. I'm in southern Vermont.

I think this has been the problem all along. We have complained about the chain sawing in the past so I think she now wants something to complain about. Her husband is probably embarrassed about this whole thing since we've always been pretty cordial with them both before now.
As far...
I'm afraid they will use this as an excuse to not alert me anymore if their dogs are loose. I think the underlying thing is that they know we are growing tired of the chain saw. We realize that this is how they make a living so we try to understand but most days it goes from 9am to 9 pm with...
The trails are on their property but borders ours. Frankly, I'm not up for fencing the 10 acres between us. I've also been watching a whole group of neighbor dogs (mine included) and their dog in heat for the last hour playing together down below on my property. Could be anybody's guess if...
I understand what you're saying but for the most part we all let our dogs run and play together. Fencing property is not an option for either of us either.
...to which I would be responsible for getting rid of (these people breed their labs). I tried my best to be nice about it even though she was pretty *itchy on the phone. We agreed to a certain time that her dogs would be out and for me to keep mine in. As far as I know its been working...
Border Collie, hands down. Our boy Marty just turned a year old and he's wonderful w/ the chicks and my granddaughter. He's also learning how to put my mean old roo in his place (please no flack about the roo, I love him in spite of his antics).
