I have a video camera on my chicken coop 24/7. At night I put it on ALARM, so that if it detects motion it sends me an email of what is causing the motion. It actually takes a series of pics. The whole set up only cost like $50.

Oh my, how could you kill such a beautiful animal ? Just kidding..... I have been calling foxes morning and night from a treestand to try to get the SOB that has been killing my roosters in the middle of the day. Might have to buy some steel traps from ebay...
Coopers Hawks have been my single biggest killer. The only positive about a Coopers Hawk is that they cant take an adult chicken - they have to come back to finish eating. Now that its killed a chicken, you will have a problem for a while with botht the male and female.
I know a guy in wv that coon hunts and takes any coons that people bring to him to state game lands where he hunts in the Fall and releases them. Put an ad in craigs list to see if you have any coon hunters in your area.
Farmers didnt hurt the hawk population - DDT did. Hawks are extremely over populated around here. I cant even take a box of pen raised quail out to train my dog without a hawk swooping down trying to take the birds. I even see where they are now feeding on squirrels. The Hawks have...
Do you do head count every night when you lock your chickens in the coop? I can guarntee you that the hawk you saw today will be back. So you have a decision to make. Either protect them from predators with netting or fence them in or a 12 gauge. You will start noticing your chickens...
You would regret being homeschooled during High School for the rest of your life - Dont do it. Your only young once - you will miss so much by not attending high school
We used to stay in Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard for two weeks every summer - i never saw so many skunks in all my life! Even during the daylight hours we would see skunks - any chance it was a skunk? Or Osprey will also eat chickens.... Was the feather pattern in a cirlce or strewn in a...
I use the light weight netting from that company. I use that because i have a large area and it was expensive to use the heavier netting. I am thinking of covering my entire garden soon like you are considering. Youll need to erect some tall poles in the middle of your garden. The light...
Coopers Hawks have been my single most devasting chicken killer. The only positive is that they are too small to leave with a full grown chicken , so they have to come back after the kill to eat more .......
Take it from someone that has learned the hard way - if you had a chicken taken in the day time - what ever it was probably fox or hawk will be back for its next meal unless you pen your birds up.
Hawks and foxes and hunting very hard right now. I was having chickens disappear one at a time during the day with no trace. I have had to stop free ranging all together until I remove all the predators. I had a fox come into the yard during the day chasing the chickens , so I figured that...
that doesnt sounds like a hawk - unless it was a small hawk that had trouble leaving with the chicken. Usually if its a hawk you will just see a circles of feathers where it hit the chicken. Raccoons seem to leave a much bigger mess.
