Foxes take away my joy of keeping chickens.

I have 2 dogs, they chase the fox if they are in the garden but do not make any noise to alert me to the fox being on a killing spree even when they are in the conservatory next to the garden. used to have 3 dogs and it was just the same...

Foxes take away my joy of keeping chickens.

chicken update. she went outside in a pen for the first time today. she clearly does not have a broken leg which i feared because she just sat for several days. she has injuries under as well as on her back but they are healing. she might be ok. she is eating but only more tempting stuff like...

    What killed my ducks????

poor you. do you have foxes? when foxes come to my garden in broad daylight even, the dogs who bark at visiting dogs and humans, remain silent. foxes kill a bunch then leave them and return to collect the kill later. i too thought i was safe with my 6 ft fences but if you look at you tube you...

Foxes take away my joy of keeping chickens.

yes, she has been treated. last year one of our chickens lost a leg. the coop was undamaged, she must have stuck it out of a crack. she was covered in poop in the morning and she survived. how she didn't die of massive infection i will never know.

Foxes take away my joy of keeping chickens.

can you shoot it? if i saw it endangering my chickens i would be allowed to shoot but i would miss. if i trapped it it would be illegal to shoot it then what would i do with it. ... tempted to cook a chicken and fill it with paracetamol and hope it overdoses.

Foxes take away my joy of keeping chickens.

we have stupid laws in UK. Once trapped it isn't technically a danger so it is illegal to shoot it. Thank you for the suggestion though:)

Now treating mites that new girl came with.

How i hate mites. I think you will find it isn't so much the new chicken but an anual problem you are sure to have if there is any wood about. the diatomaceous earth helps a bit, double sided tape round every roosting pole wil kill them and give you an idea of how many there are but i agree with...

Foxes take away my joy of keeping chickens.

I have kept chickens for the past eight years. Where I lived previously, we did have problems with foxes but a 4 foot electric fence solved that. Since that time I have moved house. When I moved I was glad to note that the entire garden was surrounded by six-foot fences. I knew they couldn't...
