Yes I stopped trying to incubate in one and switch to another for hatching. I purchased 2 more incubators and now hatch in 4 separate incubators. Keep the humidity at 30-38% during growth and lockdown at 65%-78%
It actually wasn't their toes but the toe nails. I have since learned they had "clear" not "white" since the clear 99% of he time to grow out to black. White toes will not change other than some possible receding but never fully gone.
They look just like my cuckoo chicks did years ago (no longer have cuckoo & breeder says they don't have cuckoo) when I saw the dark down & I head spot, just with feathered legs.
Yes the 2 chicks (just bums ) to the right are from the same breeder, no head spot & seem like the blue I know. I got 4 without a head spot and those are a Blue & one that looks black (the breeder said it would be a dark blue not black) & the other 2 without a head spot died without warning one...
I ordered 8 French blue marans chicks from a breeder farm. They arrived & I noticed 4 of them had large white spots on their heads. The breeder said this was normal. Feather started to come in & they were muted barred like a cuckoo would be. Breeder said they would fade. Now they are feathering...
I too got eggs from that seller before I knew better. I also left negative feedback, not about the eggs or hatch rate as they state feedback can only be about the sale. So I purposely left my negative feedback on communication & not providing paperwork the ad said they would. EBay still removed...
Its an incuview from incubator warehouse. I got it because of the entirely clear lid and it regulates if outside temperature changes. So far it's worked great the only down fall is it only holds 27 eggs & (I assume because it side rolls eggs) I have had a few pip the wrong end.
I went the craft store and bought plastic mesh #7 and made boxes, first hatch going in right now & working great. Because of all the "holes" humidity was not effected at all
The cross of a cream Legbar to any salmon breasted breed will continue to produce sexable at hatch chicks. I was told welsumer are only 85% sexable at hatch so I figured the same will follow for the offspring. I have had good sexing ability with the few rogues that don't match to either male or...
This is what my pure CL roo over my pure welsumer produces so your variation would be from whatever your welsumer is mixed with. These girls lay a nice kacki green egg (bottom middle egg)
Just wanted to post my trio I plan on putting together to start my breeding for betterment of the breed. (Just waitjg til my Roo gets his all clear from the vet in 2 weeks, don't want to breed any health defects) Do look good enough to go forth with?
Roo is GFF (4.5 months) and hens are Toni...
Thankyou for that observation, til I get more info will assume the girls will resemble welsumer or Legbar female chicks with the stripes (chipmunk) any anything else a male. I have a hen from this mix, before finding out they can be auto sexed, but don't remember what she looked like as a day old.
I have read that crossing a Cream Legbar with a welsumer will make auto sexing chicks but what will each sex chick look like ? Will the girls stay chipmunk and the boys have the spot on the head and be lighter? Thanks
See I thought it was shrink wrapped too but then how the heck did I get a sticky chick (to high humidity) in the same hatch as shrink wrapped chicks (to low humidity) boy I really do hate this winter. Good point as my hatches last year where may and later. Thankyou for your help and so sorry...
This egg was in the same hatch, did an eggtopsy....
Is this sticky chick or shrink wrapped (that's the inner membrane the outer was white and tight to the shell)
Thats the crazy part I had 6 hatches last year all.with 80% or better hatch rate & the only thi.g I changed this year was the new incubator for lockdown. It has a full clear lid so I can see what is going on (issues of last yrs chicks not making it could have been saved if I was able to see in...
They were shipped eggs so don't know how old or age of breeders. They did have an issue with getting super cold as the lovely post office didn't hold for pick up but instead hung them.from.my mail box in a bag for up to 2.hrs during negative temps. I do open my incubator to assist and move...
